stupid people with fur coats...

i have to voice something that really made me angry today and it takes a lot to make me angry!

i was having lunch in this little tea shop in my city called the zodiac room. I was having a great time then this lady walked in. She was wearing the biggest fur coat i have ever seen and to top it all of a big furry hat. She was a really pissy woman and kept complaining about everything....

i really wished that i had a bottle of spray paint in my bag. cuz it took all my nerve to not get up and tackle her!


do they make small bottles of spray paint ( like travel size ) hehehe jk that would be cool though!

That's nothing, you would be surprised at how many women came into the vegetarian restaurant i worked in, wearing the most offesively large fur coats you could imagine, then complained to management that the staff weren't friendly... incomprehensible ain't it?

 

no shit....i was amazed i just couldnt believe that she could come in to such an awesome place wearing that coat! errrg

I've read some articles that say that "fake fur" is even suspect...Fur manufacturers somehow "sneak" real fur into the fake fur collars, etc. on coats, and so forth, to help bolster up the fur industry because so many people now will not wear real fur. Don't ask me how this happens exactly, I don't know, but it is pretty freakin' bad. I've never worn fake fur either, but, if this info. is true, I can't believe that the fur industry would stoop so low...actually, yes, I can...

 

It really bothers me when I see people wearing fur. I mean, where I live, it's not exactly Antartica. There's no need for it, it's just for show, a materialistic status symbol. A SELFISH status symbol.

 

ah! how crazy i wouldnt be surprised about that though. there is a lot of things about this world that are deceiving. its sad

 

i just read something about martha stewart and how she used to wear real fur untill she said she "learned what actually happens to the animals"......WELL WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK HAPPENS TO THEM?! did you think that the animals just unzip their coats, hand it over and say "here i dont need this anymore, you take it"?????!!!!!!!
unfucking real, isnt it? i wont even wear fake fur....something about it just bothers me and i wouldnt want anyone to ever mistake it for real fur.

same thing with leather......i wouldnt buy leather either (im a veg). there are some things that i will buy second hand like a down coat or a wool sweater as its not supporting the industry and instead recycling something that would otherwise be garbage.

 

Yes, I hate when I see people wearing fur as well. But in my opinion...spraying it with paint isnt such a good idea. They might just go out and buy another one. Maybe say something that will make them feel guilty? Like "how many animals did it take to make your coat?"
I've seen some pretty good fake fur...I thought it was real even after touching it. But I wouldnt wear that either. why would someone want to look like their wearing animal hair?

 

i think she was talking about how the animals are so horribly mistreated (ie anal electricution, deformed/rotting feet from the metal cages, behavioral problems etc. etc.)

btw i once saw a documentary on the fur industry in canada, ill never be able to get the image of that man in apron and gloves, killing some tortured little beast for its pelt out of my mind and i must say if i ever met someone involved in the fur industry id probably fly off the handle and beat him mercilisly in a murderous rage

 

yes she was but even if the animals lived a life of luxury untill their death...killing them to take their fur is wrong on every level. and of course only a complete moron would not realize that the animals obviously dont live in the lap of luxury. thats why martha stewart sucks bigtime

 

Yes, fur sucks... but spraying people with paint or flying off the handle at strangers is not the way to get a point across. It will only serve to reinforce the stereotype that that the veg*n community is a bunch of crazy militant hippies. What about living by example... you said the woman was being pissy to people, why not go up beside her and be super-polite to the clerk- maybe she will notice that being a pissy arrogant bitch is not the way to get good service. And the clerk was nicer to some casually dressed longhair and not HER? that'll prolly really piss her off. I dunno... but I do know that acting a fool is not a good way to get your point across.

although... i dont deny that i have had the urge to just go up to someone and stone cold clock them upside the head... heh.

 

Echo the Small-- I can't believe that the woman had the nerve to complain! (Maybe she was so ignorant that she didn't even realize that the coat was the reason??) One time I was in a vegan restaurant and some people wearing fur trim came in. We were so annyoyed. We had been at a fur protest all day and were sick and tired of seeing those kinds of jerks and just wanted to relax in a cruelty-free atmosphere, and in they walk! The restaurants should have No Fur Allowed signs on their doors. I know that some dance clubs and places have no-fur rules.

 

I don't know how anyone can wear fur *shudders*. also, don't use Sable Paintbrushes. Brushmakers kill the sable just so they can cut off the tip of it's table to make one stupid paintbrush. Taklon all the way (alternative to sable)!

 

Anyone who thinks fur looks better on their back than it did on the animal...must be foooking mental imo....

 

when i was 12 in south florida. my grandfather was hired by several different orange groves and one pina grove to hunt and trap the animals so they would stop destroying the plants. every evening after school he would come get me and we would go set 50 to 200 traps out in the groves. next morning about an hour before sun up he would return and pick me up and we would go collect the traps. and during the day he would kill and skin them. start preserving the hides for sale to fur traders and save the bodies for sale as meat( had to leave one foot on racoons to prove they were not cats) the blacks would buy as many racoons as he could kill for food. opposums were pretty much useless except for the hides and amadillos were turned into purses.

now i never got into that buisness except when young like i said above but thats the way my grandfather supported himself and my grandma and a couple of cousins that had a really shitty mom and dumped them off on granma.

but thats not why i posted this. the reason is all you veggy loven people out there unless you grow all your food and drinks yourself you will be in someway supporting the death of animals. just as buying orange juice made in florida all the groves have trappers and such to remove animals . so just dont think your all high and mighty and condemming people for wearing a fur while your sipping on your tall glass of fresh florida OJ in the morning. and if your a coffee drinker give it up pestisides are so common in the industry it would make you sick no animals are alive near a coffe plantation the BATS dont even fly near them down here. and i am in Puerto Rico where there is still goverment oversight and regulation on pestisides think about coffee from other countries. where they dont have the same regulations .

ahh and next to turisim coffee is the biggest money maker in PR its the largest expot item the island produces and guess who buys it...COLUMBIA ole Juan valdeze himself buys puerto rican coffee and makes it become columbian then repackages it and labels it columbian.

i find it a little funny also that many of the people here are also prochoice, i mean the logic escapes me in how its bad to kill an animal for fur, clothing, food but you can kill a baby just cause you want to. im no bible thumper or anything and belive very much in a persons right to freedom. but that baby is a person also. i think the mothers choice was to have or not to have sex or to use or not to use birth control.

in the state of Florida if a women was driving her car and she is prego and a drunk driver kills her . the drunk driver is charged with 2 murders not one.

sorry for the rambling on . i guess i pretty much feel twards this thread like the young lady that wanted to bitch slap the prissy old gal with the fur coat.

and the person complaining about being in a veg joint and people wearing furs comming in after your hard day of protesting. maybe they were protesting your anti fur views just buy going in.

so for me whats good for the goose is good for the gander.

and the landy that buys the wool and down but only second hand. cool, but why second hand wool? sheep are not killed for the wool used in sweaters. maybe those old WWII flight suits or otehr sheep skin clothing but just a wool sweater no harm in that.
