Student’s marijuana speech ends with flourish – and trip to jail

The teachers wanted persuasive. And they got it.
At the end of his speech Tuesday urging legalization of marijuana, a 17-year-old Peninsula High School student pulled out a joint, lit it and smoked away. Then he ate the remains.
For that he got a quick escort to the school office and then a ride to Remann Hall juvenile jail.

I wish I had thought of that, I mean my "Legalize It!" got an A+ but I think it would have been pretty sweet to light up right there. I wonder what my teacher would have done if I had done that.

16 yr old kids getting high and doing stupid shit and getting busted only makes it seem like cannabis is horrible and corrupts the youth and all that other bullshit they say to keep it illegal.

i could see this being awesome under different situations.

If it was a kid 18+ and wasn't at a school organized deal, and if he hadn't brought much attention to the joint. If he nonchalantly lit it up like a cigarette and just smoked normally through the whole deal, let the audience figure out whether it's tobacco or not

Anyways, the kid brought a lot of attention to the subject, but not really in the right way.

 

Ok lets see. Marijuana prohibition is a dumb law, to prove a point, he smoked a joint in public, an act which he knew would get him in trouble... so that makes him a dumb ass? In the 50s it was against the law for a black person to sit in the front of a bus, Rosa Parks did so, knowing she would be arrested. Does that make her a dumb ass? The article makes it clear that the kid is not stupid, he has a 3.7 gpa, and apparently many students were impressed by his speech.

 

I agree wholeheartedly with standing up for what you believe in and this will definately bring attention to the issue of legalization to all the people at the school and the parents etc.
