Because of George Bush, my parents are struggling to survive. My dad lost his weekly bonus at work and sometimes he's only able to work four days a week because of this recession.

I give my parents some money once a month but they're still struggling. My mom is having to use the little spending money she has to pay bills. They're barely able to make it.

If things get worse, my dad may be out of a job altogether and he may go under. Bush may have high hopes of getting us out of this recession but I have serious doubts.

Bush got us into this recession and many people like my dad are suffering. I doubt that John McCain can end this recession either.

Bush's dad also got us in a recession and it took a democrat to get us out of it. Republican Presidents tend to get us into recessions. Democrat Presidents don't.

President Hoover was a republican and he was the President when the Great Depression began. At the moment George Bush is as popular as Hoover and that's not very popular.

I doubt that McCain can do a better job than Bush. On November the 4th Obama is going to be my choice.

I wish you guys the best, hopefully you be able to pull together and come through it OK. The struggling to survive theme is going on in lots of areas. I've got about 70 acres of hillground and sink holes but we're gonna try to fence off a few acres to run some cows for our own food. Several of my sons have small properties touching my farm so were gonna go to gather and make a little community project out of cows and chickens. I'm concerned that the time is here to do some serious self sufficiency. Even if Obama gets in It's gonna take a long time to undo the damage of the bush years.

I'm struggling too. I work a full time job and take care of my mom, who also works a full time job even though she can barely walk, and we still don't make enough to pay everything and live. The only good thing is that one of our loans isn't going to bother us for a while at least, since it was through Washington Mutual.

If he can only work four days a week it sounds like he has the time to get another job. Maybe mom too.

They could also donate plasma. Many places will pay up to $250 per person per month if you give the maximum donations. Mom and dad together could be an extra $500 a month, just for getting a vein spiked every couple of days.

Don't mean to sound like a dick, but my point is that sometimes you need to make sacrifices or work a little harder to get through tough times. If they are barely able to make it, it sounds like they are still making it. Some supplemental income, budgeting, and financial responsibility may go a long way.

^I think the point is that people who work hard and follows "the rules" shouldn't have to resort to having to sell bodily fluids just to pay the bills.

Folks, this guy is a spammer. He is obviously working for the Obama campaign to spread propaganda. He is posting the same thing on message boards across the internet. He never partakes in the discussions he starts, just spams the same tired nonsense, until he comes back a week or two later to spam some more.

RandyJohnson has been a hipforums member since December 2007. I doubt he was able to predict back then that the economy would emplode nearly a year later. When I did internet searches for his comment I found them on only four other websites. If he is a spammer he is not doing a very good job of it. I think what he is telling about his circumstances in life is true. It is true of a lot of other people. The Bush economy has been a disaster for me. I did well during the Clinton years.

See if he responds to my post. If he isn't full of shit, that little poke in the ribs should condition a response.

I am serious though. If I was in financial trouble I would donate bodily fluids before I went crying on a public forum about how rough I have it. Life is not always easy or fair, but that is life. Sometimes you have to suck it up and push through. That's all that I'm saying.

What are the rules? As far as I know there are no rules. You do what you have to do to survive. You can't pay bills, cut expenses. I often hear people complaining about how they don't have enough money to get by yet they drink, smoke, go out to eat, have cable tv, internet, cell phone, etc... These are not necessities, these are luxuries. My suggestion is that you cut out these luxuries, and typically the response is "I work hard, why should I have to sacrifice......"

Not to go off on a tangent here, but from most of the discussions I have had with people who are struggling financially, they are not willing to give up luxuries in life that they feel they are entitled to.

This is not necessarily directed at you, just history of similar discussions I have had.

I agree. For the vast majority of people, this is true.

What is my BIG fallback plan if there is a true global depression and goods, services, jobs, food, energy and money are no longer flowing so freely? My family. We've even discussed it.

My mother lives alone in a house long since paid for. I live alone. My daughter and her son live alone. 3 houses for 4 people. 3 heating bills, 3 electric bills, a total of 5 cars. etc. etc.

The resources are all around us, we just might need to rethink. I am not saying it is easy.

Life's been hard for me for nine years now. I've given up a lot by other people's standards. But actually I've found I am freer then they are now. Don't go to many parties or my fortieth reunion, because the first thing people ask you is what do you do? Well I get by.

My utilities I've got down to about $20.00 a month during the summer, they go up to about eighty in the winter. No airconditioning or cooler in the summer and we get triple digits for three months, let the lawns die so I didn't have to water. Only set my thermostat at 51 during the winter. I do freelance work but I don't count on it, I am forced to do a lot of spec work that never pans out. I still do manual labor that actually pays what bills I have. I don't buy new clothes or new vehicles. My truck is a 1986 Ford Ranger. I have a small garden that provides vegetables during the growing season. I barter for whatever I can. House is paid for. But I have some back taxes I've got to get caught up fast or be found in default.

No cable tv, never owned a cell phone, no dryer, don't eat out. Times are tough, and if the bailout isn't passed they are going to get a lot tougher.

And before you call me on my computer usage, it's how I freelance, and I am still on dialup for a total of 48.00 per year. My phone bill is now 8.00 per month. I use a computer built in 1999, and upgraded through discarded parts from friends.

I sort of agree, but think he's probably a intern for Bush/Cheney/Paulson. Paid to hit the boards with the sob stories.

Think we'll soon see some from McCain, crying about how the farm families and small entrepenuers need an end to the Capital Gains and Inheritance tax?

Or even that corporations have to pay exhorbitant salaries to their executives or they won't get the best?

Funny thing is the highest trading company on the stock exchange: Berkshire Hathaway pays their CEO $100,000.00 a year. Less than pro athletes, who I think are grossly overpaid.

I don't think Buffett is losing money right now.
