Well. they have done it. they have achieved perfection. maybe thats one of the reasons its almost over. they dont want to over do it. they dont want it to get old. they want it to stay mysterious. the setting: I live about 15 minutes from Bonnaroo so i'm an expert on that shit. I went to Camp Zoe and it was literally a breath of fresh air to me. no dust, fumes, corporate bullshit, waiting in line for 6 hours and less people making getting fucked up their first priority and putting the music second. It was the other way around. everywhere you looked there were giant tree covered hills. there was a crescent shaped ridge right behind the stage so we were enclosed which ofcourse amplified the music. and there is also a stream that runs through the 300 acre farm so there was plenty of swimming going on. Shakedown was great. they had excellent food and art at great prices. and it was almost exclusively "freaks" which have got to be the greatest people on earth alot of them being "deadheads" as well. it was truly a "Shantytown" my friends. the perfect show: I've seen Phish many times, Trans-Siberian orchestra, The Pink Floyd light show, as well as many other aesthetically pleasing performances but nothing even comes close to what I saw this past weekend. First of all the stage set-up Cheese has had for the last year or so is perfectly fung shui. and ofcourse they have had that giant screen. but they took it a bit further (and i heard they used it at hornings as well) they have three screens now (a giant circle with two triangles on either side) aranged to look like a giant eye. and around the circle and under the triangles were all these huge extremely bright tube lights and they would shine maybe 50 different colors. I'm not sure what theyre called but they were really fun to look at. and dont forget the fifty million spot lights they had. of course the music was impeccable. absolute perfection. not much spur of the moment, lets see where this takes us type stuff but extremely technical, difficult riffs, tiffs, and other musical lingo that i have no clue about. they definately practiced alot during the run up to the show I would think and I'm glad they did. anyways the combination of all the factors made this in my opinion the best show ever put on. I'll have to do my reviews a little later and put my pictures and the video I got of Billy from the front row running and getting up on the speakers a little later. I'll have that for you by to tommorrow. I promise. now I'm going to crash. GO TO RED ROCKS THIS WEEKEND! you will never see anything like this again except maybe on DVD. oh did anyone else go to big summer?
i unfortunately missed big summer but I've got three of the four nights at red rocks...I have to miss the 3rd night due to a family wedding
anyone notice that Billy's playing at Cannabis cup? I think we have Sunday tix. have yet to see them materialize, but they are miracles.

well after an awesome version of Round the wheel with the band hooping on thursday, I doubt they'll reprise it for an encore. But then again whenever I think I've made an accurate prediction about what they'll do, they do the opposite. I could see way back home as the last encore.
didn't realize that. Btw everyone should check out this month's Relix, SCI has the cover article and the article really explains alot about the bands break-up - and all othe the band members opinions on the break-up.
i'm sad now. i have this weird feeling. its a total disturbance in the force. Cheese is gone. I do believe they will be back. But there is this hollowness knowing there is not going to be a fall run or a winter bash. 12/05/03 LA, was amazing. we walked in about two songs into the first set. the crowd was just grooving. i was so happy with the cheese crowd....seemed more innocent than the Phish crowd i was a custom to. The night blew me away. The band was so tight and at moments Kang started to remind me of Trey, which i really liked, as i am a huge phish fan....they were just killing it that night.....i will forever love and miss SCi.....i love those boys oh so very much....
