I've seen people here and there complaining about streaming services using ads. One thing people need to know is that most of these streaming companies haven't been that profitable. One reason for this is because they weren't getting revenue from ads. More streaming companies are now using ads for the revenue. Hasn't TV always relied on commercials to "pay the bills"?
Well, no. And that's why people are frustrated. I thought I watched my last commercial in 2012. And for over a decade, I didn't see another one. Now they're back. And the only way to avoid them is to pay more money to streaming companies whose corporate greed already brought the world's greatest entertainment industry to a complete standstill when they weren't willing to share their wealth with the actors generating it for them in the first place. I can't imagine this is just "paying the bills"
Very true! With the endless commercials on streaming sites and You Tube now wanting like $70 a month so they stop halting your feed after 22 seconds or bopping you out of the app! I've almost stopped watching the tube altogether! I just realized how the word "tube" is now obsolete including YouTube...
People tend to forget that advertising revenue is a fixed sum of money decided by the corporations. As countless new freeview channels come along, it is just getting spread more thinly. They are almost all in trouble and shutting down and swapping names every few weeks. With ever decreasing money, the mainstream channels are producing more low budget drivel, so viewing figures are plummeting. This offers a crutch to freeview, but that won't last very long. If you look at my post and poll, you can see what is happening to Google. Over recent weeks they have screened ads that are TOTAL scams. On one of them the military have come forward to condemn it. Dozens of them advertise products that break the rules of physics. How can anyone be dumb enough to believe that a USB device can heat the entire house. After 55 years, I have never got a workable COP value much above 3. In my opinion, it is only a matter of months, before the whole lot starts tumbling into one big heap.
