I was just wondering what anyone's opinion is about people who call their way of living "straight edge" or write this thing "sXe". I'm not really for or against this, but it seems to me like of lot these so-called "straight-edge" people think they're really BA, which I find annoying.. :smoking:

The ones that I came into contact with in Utah thought they were total Billy badasses and liked to beat people up with baseball bats for no reason really.
Some are alright though like my boy CJ Wilson, pitcher for the Angels out here in southern california.

I respect their views of no drugs/alcohol etc...

Yeah, I do too. I know of some really nice people who are like that, but they don't boast and brag about it. Some people just think they are so much better than everyone else. That's not true, in any case. I don't think people should be compared with each other. And why all the violence??

i think whatever they have up their ass must be really painful. now me, i'm not attracted to neurotropic substances, nor errotically attracted to gayness. but i equally fail to see how that's supposed to make me any better then anyone who is.

They seem to be a neo-Nazi spin off? I`m straight edge in the sense that I don`t do any drugs or alcohol. But, I`m not some kind of moralizing sect.

Yeah, all the self-confidence is great, but why does a goal have to be to bring other people down? Some people just go too far & turn that confidence into a big BA sXe ego.. Please, show us how not using drugs/alcohol makes you a "better person." Because I also know some people who do use & are much better people-nice, friendly, helpful, caring, etc.-than these other people. Maybe being "straight-edge" is healthier, so just call yourself healthy. lol Join a health club, be an example or something. Don't go gang up on everyone else & start ranking people..

I've never met someone who claimed to be one. Just about everyone I know gets high or drinks because it's the cheapest way to escape this place.

It's really just annoying. I know plenty of people who choose not to drink or do drugs but they don't feel the need to validate it with a stupid label and judgemental behavior

I'm 6', bearded, long haired hippie/biker with a rep in the Haight that goes back to the '60s. It's true they prefer to ratpack weaker folks. They're very much akin to neo nazi skin heads. The showed up in the Haight right after the skins were run out of SF and my take was/is they're just wanna be skins under cover so to speak. I've not seen them stand up to equals willing to face them.

Thanks for the posts everyone, love to hear different opinions.
Exactly. Always picking on the weaker kind. They're not as strong as they think they are
