On my computer I have a Norton virus program and Spy Sweeper and I am wondering if they save files or not. I know that sites are saved by IE and that you can manually delete them but is that the only place they are being stored?

I don't know much about these programs, so I just wanted to know because other people use this computer so I always clear the history and cookies so people can't get into password protected areas.

On IE to turn off cookies and history go to the tools menu and select interent options. Under temporary internet files click settings and turn the space alloted to 0. Under history, turn the days stored to 0. That should take care of it.

They keep logs too, just go to search and type in the name of the program and you should be able to find/ delete the logs

The internet security program that come with norton's antivirus keeps a log of all the websites you go to, plus every cookie it blocks etc. But its very easy to delete the tray.

There isn't anything in the quarantine file and the only type of log I can find is the time I turn the computer on each day. The programs either don't save the websites I go to or it saves them in a very hard to find place. Either way I guess I shouldn't bother to worry.

Thanks for helping Juggs but you're still not going to get nudie pictures...yet any way...

if you have norton internet security there should be a globe at the bottom right, that gets a " ! " mark on it when you have been attack by a trojan etc. double click on that. then click on options. then look through there. there should be a event log or something like that. once you click on that, should give you options about alerts and history etc. i had to reformat my computer after a move cause windows would not work. so i don't have it in front of me. but i hope my info does help. also get ad-ware from Cnet.com. go to downloads the look up ad-ware. i believe adware se will be one of the downloads. its an amazing and simple to use free program. i normally use that with spybot.

That is one of the best peices of freeware I have ever used. CTRL+ALT+X and your computer is clear of all files stored from the internet! (It also has many other cool features)
