Coerced animal fights is animal cruelty. There's no doubt about that.

And the penalty SHOULD be felony-level. It's freakin' absurd.

So you are equating a cock fight (did not read the article, just using an example.) to a firefight in the middle of New York city?

Are you saying that it is absurd that people who sponser animal fights get a lighter penalty than people who shoot other people in a city? That statement is absurd.

I dont know that much about the justice system but im sure that even if they were both felonys the consequence for cap'n asses could be more serious than a cock fight.
Thats beside the point, he just meant that animal cruelty deserves more than a slap on the wrist.

P.S- Using a screen name like "fuck the trees" wont get you much sympathy on a vegetarian forum.

If you do, then if you kill a bug, or accidentally step on an ant, then kill yourself. You deserve death if you killed something better than you. According to America's laws, you would be executed. So save us the time and hang yourself. (Sarcasm)

But if you really care about animals more than people, then you should punish yourself severely everytime you step on an ant, or anything similar.

If people go and try to change laws, then yes, it will affect me, and hurt me.

LOL. Too funny. Do you honestly think that America's laws forbid most animal killing? Or that someone could get the death penality for killing an animal? Hell, in many parts of the country, even the most outrageous abuse is treated as a misdemeanor...like scribbling on walls or swiping library books. If anything, our laws are structured to specifically allow most forms of animal harm and killing if it is profitable--just walk into a grocery store.

Unless you strangle puppies or throw animals into pits to rip each other to shreds, the adoption of increased penalities for illegal animal abuse will hardly affect you for the worst. In fact, it may affect you for the better. Psychologists, law enforcement agencies and even the FBI have concluded that animal abuse is a warning sign of future violence toward humans. Serial murderers, school-shooting perpetrators, and child/spousal abusers have, overall, shown increased tendencies to have animal abuse in their pasts. By apprehending and treating animal abusers, you just may save a person's life in the future.
Do we need to apprehend those who engage in violence toward people as well? Yes. But increasing penalties for illegal animal abuse in NO WAY prevents us from doing this. It's just another facet of handling violent crime and keeping communities safe.
I understand from your posts and screen name that your main intent is to flame and antagonize posters interested in this forum. But attempting to defend illegal, pointless abuse of any victim is pretty low, even for a flame post. Especially when the "warning sign" of animal cruelty is considered, and the fact that underground fighting pits add an unsafe element into human communities.

From experince you do not have to coerce Game Cocks *proper name* They are more closely related to the peasent then a chicken. Also in the wild they fight each other naturely. If you notice all Game Cocks are tied or caged this is beacues the males will naturely fight each other if they see another male. Also the hens will fight each other *I've sat outside one day and watched it just randomly happen* Also your beloved Abraham Licion was a Ref at Local Cock Fights. These Roosters are treated better then most dogs. They also live longer and healthier then any chicken meant for eating. The people who fight them *or the ones who know what they are doing* condition and pamper these roosters. There are strict rules and Steroids and Drugs are illegal. Please if read up on it before you accuse everyone who does it crule.

BTW I'm VERY VERY VERY ANTI DOG FIGHTING! I no longer particpate or hold any veiws what so ever on cock fighting. Dog Fights are cruel and coerced give a bad name to certian breeds of dogs...and the owners starve and beat their dogs...*this again from experince* I live in east teaxs so this stuff is fairly common...It just makes me sick.

^ Totally. That's why I never understood the argument:

"It's not right to punish animal abuse (felony) as severely as murder (felony)."

Well DUH. Then the solution isn't to make animal abuse laws wimpier. The solution is to make murder laws harsher. Animal abuse laws have nothing to do with that. If anything, better animal abuse laws may make it easier to pass better murder/rape/assault laws.

As for FTT, yeah, he's sort of a vegi troll. But I find it kinda interesting, because he does make logical points, albeit a bit extreme & non sequitur. He sounds sorta like a Jain priest (defenders of all life) who left the faith and turned to the dark side. <- Not at all intended as an insult, dude.
