Wow. "Al Jazeera America" sent an investigative reporter into Boeing's South Carolina factory, where they heard tales of drug sales, stoned workers, and many employees stating they would not fly on the airplanes they are building. Out of safety concerns!

Seems the FAA folks who regulate Boeing sometimes end up crossing to the other side, and working for an airline lobby group. Boeing pays no US taxes.

Well, complaining to our Congress people won't do much, as they get contributions from Boeing. However, we can spread the news, and boycott Boeing.

Anyone can watch the report on "You Tube", searching under:

If they, Boeing, GE, Verizon, Bank of America, Citigroup, Pfizer, FedEx, Honeywell, Merck, Corning, and probably many other companies are following the tax laws as they have been written, then they are NOT evading taxes, but simply complying with the tax laws as written.

Although there are varying reports of how many pages our tax laws are, from what I've gathered from all my European friends when I show them my completed tax returns, the U.S. tax laws are far more complex than theirs. Don't complain about the companies, complain about our politicians who are responsible for making the laws. Tax reform is greatly needed in the U.S., but in ways to make it better NOT worse.

I used the word "evade" quite loosely. Not as the IRS means it, but evasion just the same. Boeing bought some Congress persons via campaign contributions, and got the tax laws written as they want them to read, I do suspect.

You must use a definition for 'evade' different from any I've been able to find in the dictionary. Could you share it and its' source with us all?

Who did Boeing buy via political contributions, and what parts of the laws were written "as they want them to read"? How many House and Senate members did Boeing have to buy to have enough votes to pass the changes you claim were made on their behalf?

Yes to both questions, but that still does not answer the questions I asked.

You've singled out Boeing, claiming that they have evaded paying taxes. You then accused Boeing of having bought some Congress persons via campaign contributions, who then wrote tax laws the way Boeing wanted them to read but fail to name the Congress persons bought by Boeing, or the specific tax laws which were written at Boeings request. You now seem to be implying that Boeing used Lobbyists to accomplish what you accuse them of, and although Boeing, like most every large corporation and many special interest groups does employ Lobbyists, there are a great many issues other than taxes for which they are employed. Going back to 1998, which is the first year I found information on spending on Lobbying, Boeing made the top 20 list 13 times, but never in the top 10, and were far outspent by those who were in the top 10. Below is the list of top 20 spenders on Lobbyists for 2014, and is quite typical of each year going back to 1998 led by the US Chamber of Commerce in every year but 2.

    US Chamber of Commerce $91,935,000
    National Assn of Realtors $41,624,253
    Blue Cross/Blue Shield $15,651,221
    American Medical Assn $15,070,000
    American Hospital Assn $14,652,342
    National Assn of Broadcasters $13,910,000
    Google Inc $13,680,000
Pharmaceutical Rsrch & Mfrs of America $12,650,000
    Dow Chemical $12,520,000
    General Electric $12,480,000
    Boeing Co $12,440,000
National Cable & Telecommunications Assn $11,960,000
    Comcast Corp $11,940,000
    United Technologies $11,438,000
    CVS Health $10,977,640
    AT&T Inc $10,960,000
    Lockheed Martin $10,688,325
    Business Roundtable $10,540,000
    Verizon Communications $10,220,000
    FedEx Corp $9,563,776

Do you care to produce the specifics relating to your claim?

    I've accused Boeing?

You obviously have me confused with some other guy... Better check your facts before accusing.

Actually, Eleven made the accusation, but you seem to be supporting his claims with your post referring to Lobbyists. As I said, Lobbyists are employed to represent their employers on many issues that could have negative effect upon them, and Boeing is simply one of many who make use of them. Do you care to enlighten us on any issues in particular relative to Boeing?

In any event my questions still remain unanswered by Eleven, who is the one making the accusations.

    I could give two shits.

I mean, I do care about the taxes, they should have to pay fair taxes.

Nothing in particular about Boeing, but tax rulings are one thing that big business lobbies strongly about, and they get their way... That is why I mentioned lobbying. Many big businesses pay little or no taxes, some that pay no taxes even get subsidized by the government so in truth pay nothing in and take money out.

You seem to support this type of action, as long as it's big business.

Another topic then? Let's try and stay on one topic at a time.

Is that an accusation? Perhaps you should reread my post #7 once again, or at least once, and tell me what I wrote to give you that idea.

Do they pay: Payroll taxes? Real estate taxes? Sales taxes? All are deductible against corporate returns. I rejoice for big payroll taxes! Lets not get silly

Its a new plant right? perhaps that was the deal made to coax them to open up there.
