You cheered me up there for a moment, I read the headline 'stocks' in the news section and mistakenly thought they were bringing them back, along hopefully with the cat of nine tales and the death penalty, then we'd see crime fall.
From what I've read though, the death penalty would need to be pretty swiftly administered if its effects were to effect the rate of murder or other crime deserving such a punishment. The way we do it here in the U.S. there's lots of time between crime and punishment. That doesn't work.
