Right, seen as I don't actually know anyone else with dreadlocks I don't have anyone else to compare to, but never the less I know they should be well err bendier ^^ I don't think this is a new thing - i just don't think I payed any attention before, but if I hold one out it'll usually stand up, so therefore quite rigid. Now they're really light so you can barely tell your holding one out but surely they should be a little more bendy, most do bend if you hold them quite near the root but anything around halfway and they're not inclined to show any signs of life. So should they be softer and what would I do for that? I've previously used KB bar, Bronner's Bar, DHHQ liquid and for a little while I used one of the rises for dandruff control but as far as I know they've always been this rigid.
mine are very soft and bendy,,do you have trouble putting them up in a bun? maybe the length is making them stick out more. my shorter ones do that. if you want to soften them up though, I'd use coconut oil. put it in your dreads the night before a wash. and maybe only use shampoo if they are seriously dirty? I've been just using water the past week and they feel a lot softer and like real hair. I think the shampoo dried them out therefore stiffining them up.
The ones by my front are really rigid and not even three months old. If I hold a quarter up my hair, the whole thing stands up. I think the rigidness is normal.
well the newer parts of my longer dreads, so the first 1/4 of them are quite bendy and squishy but everything further down is much, not harder, but denser, so i guess that's because further down they're more mature. I do wash with shampoo every other day so I guess that is much more frequent than most but I find if I leave them more than 3 days I get build up, and then when I'm stressed I get really hot and itchy >.< though today I washed without shampoo anyway and that's taken away the build-up as the shampoo does but they feel different for it, I'm gonna mix up one of the fantastic concoctions when I get the time and see how that goes.
just use water, you will be able to go longer between washes. some of mine that are more mature (and they're only a month and a half old) will stand up if I hold them out. at the roots they are still non dreaded so they are soft and squishy there. the more mature they are, the denser they will be so maybe that's why they stick up.
1) Depends on the length of the dread 2) Depends on your hair type 3) Depends how old they are Mine are 5/6 inches, blonde straight hair and nearly a year old. Mine do not bend.. And plus, dreads aren't supposed to be anything... Whats the problem? I don't get why you're worrying. Other people's dreads are different. If someone else's dreads are bendy.. Good for them, don't try and make yours bendy if they are stiff.. EH?!
