Has anybody read all seven books of this series? I've read six of them so far, and I'm about half-way through the seventh, but I kind of find it rather hard to get through this. I know eventually I will, but it seems like those 1000+ pages are going to take forever. By the way, I am a Stephen King fan, and I have read all his books, except his latest books.
i have read the whole series twice! enjoy man, and don't read the ending provided at the end, totally not worth it.
No man, I mean the whole last book. I felt cheated by everything in it, as if King said 'Fuck You' to all Tower fans. The Fate of Flagg, Eddie and the rest of the Ka-Tet, the characters of Mordrad and the Crimson King, and the way he just kinda slid Pat Danville in as a Dues Ex Machina.... I get pissed just writing about it..
lol. randall flagg did go down like a bitch. jake is the man, even in his 3rd(?) death. but when eddie died, and the way he was killed, infuriated me! and i think the use of patrick was downright annoying, the showdown with the crimson king could have been A LOT more intense. best part of book seven, dandelo. now that i think about it, the last one was a let down in comparison to the previous, but if i were left at book six, i'd kill for any ending, even that one.
one last thing: King does say in the end, that many may be disappointed in book seven. he also says(not his words): what's greater? the destination or the sum of the journey. so as i stand, the whole story far exceeds any ending that could have been. i know i'm kinda conflicting, but i guess i have mixed thoughts on the series
when Eddie died, I was like.....wtf...totally lame. but the crimson king....he was SO lame I couldn't even believe it. I thought he was going to be a bonified badass that was ready to fuck some shit up, but actually he was just some old feeble retard that threw shit at roland from far away. but, I liked the ending after the fake ending (the one with roland)
ya the crimson was a bit weak in the knees, but he was undead lol personally, when roland ended back at jericho hill, i threw the book at my cat. eddie lives on through our memories lol
he was undead? damn I totally missed that. and I thought he ended up back in the desert, not at jericho hill. I'm probably wrong though...it's been a while.
Dangit guys you arent the only Dark Tower fans dont ruin it for everybody! I still have to read the last book in the series.
mmmhmm, the CK ate a spoon. and affirmative, he ended up back at jericho hill with some horn. damn dude, i got some nerd in me.
what do you mean he ate a spoon? yeah the horn was cuthberts I think. He didn't have it when the story began I remember that much. the whole time line is a little fuzzy for me. king never really went into detail about rolands past after the story about susan/mejis was over.
Ok dudes...... He swallowed a spoon that had been sharpend to a razor so he could be un-dead. He screamed "EEEEEEEEEEEEEE" and threw sneetches at Roland from a distance. Totaly Fucking lame, man!!! If you've ever read Insomnia, (which you should if you have'nt) it makes the CK a seem like a total badass. He's also spoken of in Hearts in Atlantis and Black House, and made out to be powerfull beyond measure. Also in Insomnia, it is said that Pat Danville would Save the lives of two men, (Roland and Eddie), a plot line completly ignored by King. At the end, Roland ends up were the books began; The Man in Black Fled Across the Desert, and the Gunslinger followed...... Not at Jericho Hill. This time he has the Horn of Eld, which Cuthbert carried but belonged to Roland. He was always supposed to Have the Horn when he entered the Tower, but never has. So he is sent back to repeat his quest untill he can learn from his mistake. I think that is it, I read the last book 4 years ago, so it has been awhile. If your interested in Rolands past then check out the Dark Tower comic series from Marvel Comics. It's Rolands adventures from his time in Hambry/Mejis till the Fall of the Last Gunslingers in the Battle of Jericho Hill. In all it's violent glory. The Art is pretty fuckin groovy too. It's still ongoing, and worth catching, and checking out.
Walter was supposed to be pretty badass too in the Stand. I can't believe how he went down in both of those books. I thought the point was not that he takes the horn of eld, but each time he has been he has made numerous mistakes, but everytime he completes the journey he fixes a certain mistake, but still has some left. making choices were a big theme for him in the series, so you have to wonder how the journey would have been affected if he had chosen differently at several key points.
oh and one more thing I was never quite clear on... walter, the man in black, and stephen deschains advisor (forgot his name, the one that was hookin up with rolands mom) were all the same person right? and how did rolands dad die?
