Steampunk?

I just recently got into the band Steam Powered Giraffe, which lead me to become curious about Steampunk culture.... I get the gist of it, and I understand that there's easy ways to make Steampunk outfits and accessories.
I was wondering, what tips do you guys have?

 

I made a few items. I'll have to get back to you on this.

 

I made some aviator goggles from the lids of mason jars, cardboard, and scrap leather.

 

I usually go to steampunk events once every two months. It's becoming more and more popular, so even the stores have corsets, goggles and all the basic stuff you may need, to dress up.
If you are interested in making things yourself, I can give you some links, or if you want some pages where it shows the style the best.
As for me, I usually dress up the most on Halloween. But in my country, it will take some time, to have real steampunk conventions and festivals.

 

I've bought some accessories but I hear there's lots of cools things you can make at home.
