Okay, so I decided that I'm gonna go natural and I'm gonna start pretty soon. I have some questions though, - Is it okay to blow dry my hair? - Is ordinary Irish Spring bar soap fine to wash with? (It's made from 100% Recycled material =)) - Do you have to leave it alone completely or is it okay to play with it a little bit?
i started my nattie dreads not much more than a week ago i think blow drying is ok...personally i just use a towel, it can help create knots no clue on the soap...sorry :/ i've been using dr bronners liquid soap... playing with it can help, but it can also hurt...just try not to overdo it i think...before i actually started goin neglect i had a lot of trouble not playing with my hair, it was sort of like wishful thinking for me...but now that i actually started the journey im finding it easy not to mess with it...i just brush it out of my face every now and then... all i really do with my hair is look at it haha...i've entertained myself for countless minutes just lookin at it and tryin to figure out what's gonna dread together and where GL on your journey!!!!
Thanks for the answers man! Haha yeah I don't play too much but sometimes it's just something I do without thinking. Thanks man you too
Natural philosophy, what's the point of constantly being a douche to people who ask questions? Why don't you just tell people the truth or answer their questions honestly for once? To the OP: see if you can find Dr. Bronner's, or you can use some homemade type stuff - try searching around here, but seems like most homemade shampoos consist of baking soda, water, and tea tree.
is it your mission to chase me around swingin from my nuts? i told the OP the truth get off your fuckin horse
i got my bronners off the website...only thing is you have to order at least $20 worth of stuff for them to ship it to you... i ended up ordering a 2oz bottle of each of the different scents, and a thing of chapstick... haha if you do get the bronners, just make sure to dilute it...i grabbed an old ~26oz bottle of pantene pro-v, rinsed it out real well, then emptied a 2oz bronners into it, filled the rest up w/ water... edit: http://www.drbronner.com/
irish spring isnt going to make your dreads fall out google dr. bronners or look at a local health food store
na. i wouldn't believe all this shampoo elitism about bronners. lotsa peeps have negative experiences with bronners. losta peeps have positives. ive used everything from baking soda, bronners, dove, irish spring, dawn dish soap, salt water... its all good man, this 'residue' i hear about sounds kinda whack... not sure what 'residue' is even supposed to mean. ive never heard of shampoo leaving globs or anything in dreads.
Alright thanks man I'll probably try a few different kinds but Irish Spring is all I've got right now and I would rather use that if it doesn't hurt them than going out to get new special shit.
the residues everyone speaks of isn't really "whack" i dont think... i mean, when i used conditioner it would leave my hair extremely silky smooth and the smell of the conditioner would be quite strong... now that i use bronners, after i rinse it out my hair almost grabs on to things, instead of everything just slippin around...and the smell from the shampoo is there, but it's not quite the punch in the nostril that the conditioner was, more of a hidden scent, if that makes any sense >_> anyways...im sure that there had to have been some sort of residue left in my hair from the conditioner in order for there to be such a dramatic difference...
ya...i was just sayin there has to be *somethin* to the residue thing... otherwise, i dun really know...like chemicals bein in the bar soap? i dunno what that's gonna do to help or hinder you, if at all... conditioner was just the most obvious example  on a different note...wallace and gromit are the shit
