I'm writing my elected officials to urge them to end the war in Iraq, and I will be sending one email a week until the war is over. I urge all of the people here who want the war to end to look up your elected officials (Senators, Reps), and write them every week about the war. We can make a difference. We have the power to vote them out of office.

    Senate email:

    U.S. Representatives email:

Writing your senetors ain't goanna do shit. I'm sorry; I wish that wasn't the case. But they already know that 80% of the country is opposed to this bullshit and they still aren't doing anything.

If you really want to have an effect, do something that will actually make a difference. Start a counter-recruitment program so that people will stop joining the military and staffing the war. You can't really run a war without soldiers (this was one of the things that helped stop Vietnam; everyone was burning their draft cards and the military couldn't fulfill it's recruitment quota).

Start living on less. The less money you earn and spend, the less taxes you have to pay (which, by the way, over half of your tax dollars are going to this war).

There are all kinds of things you can do to help stop this war. Sadly, writing your senetors and congressmen is not one of them. Maybe voting for a representative who actually gives a shit might help, but in these days of electronic voting machines and widespread election fraud, I have my doubts.

    Peace,

Some of that is true, but if you annoy someone long enough, they will finally give in. I know that one letter isn't going to change their minds, but if more and more people write, they will start to get scared about losing their jobs and will bend to majority opinion.

that's a really great idea! i tried something like that a while back but instead of letters i sent thousands of paper cranes with "End the War" and "Flying to spread peace" written on them. eventually my friends got tired of makeing cranes with me and gave up! i tried to keep it up but i was spending a lot (all) of my money on stamps! but yeah i'll write letters once i get the adressess! once i remember to look them up! :)
