Starmer has won. He has brought about, not just censorship but the very worst kind of censorship.....self censorship. If you say something and the authorities tell you not to say it at least we can all see authoritarianism in action. When we are frightened to even speak our minds, then nobody other than ourselves sees the censorship. Comparisons to 1984 are sometimes over done but we genuinely are now entering the same territory. I'm old enough to remember Thatcher banning Peter Wright's book Spy Catcher. I was young and very left wing at the time and indignant at Thatchers authoritarianism. I remember getting into a heated debate with an uncle when he said the left are the true authoritarianism when they get into power. Sadly he's long passed but I have to say if he was still with us, I'd owe him an apology
