My opponent continues his pattern of confusing contradictions. After voting for the war, after saying my decision to remove Saddam Hussein from power was the right decision, he now says it was all a mistake. But asked, does that mean our troops are dying for a mistake? He said, no. You can't have it both ways. He can't say it's a mistake and not a mistake. He can't be for getting rid of Saddam Hussein when things look good, and against it when he's falling in the polls. He can't claim terrorists are pouring across the border into Iraq, yet at the same time try to claim that Iraq is somehow a diversion from the war on terror. The American President must speak clearly, and when he speaks, must mean what he says. This is just one example of how my opponent's weak, vacillating views would make for a more dangerous world. In these final days of the campaign, will you make one more contribution to the Republican National Committee so they can help me and the Republican team get our message to the American people? www.GOP.com/Support Americans are seeing fundamental differences between my opponent and me -- differences I believe are crucial to America's national security. First of all, there's a big difference when it comes to supporting our troops in harm's way. When America puts our troops in combat, I believe they deserve the best training, the best equipment, and the full support of our government. Last week my opponent said our troops deserve better. They certainly deserve better than they got from my opponent and the liberals in Congress when they voted to send them to war, then voted against funding our troops in combat. You may remember my opponent's quote when they asked him about his vote. He said: "Well, I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it." During the course of this campaign when they asked him to explain the vote, he said the famous quote and then went on to say he was "proud" of his vote. He said the whole thing was a "complicated" matter. And then he gave yet another explanation of his vote. He said, well, it was a "protest" vote. In the debate last week, he said he had made a mistake in how he talked about that vote. But the mistake wasn't what he said; the mistake was what he did. When we put American troops in harm's way, they certainly deserve better than to have a candidate for President use them as a protest. We will never use our troops as a protest. We will give them everything they need to do the job. They deserve nothing less. Will you stand with us? www.GOP.com/Support During his 20 years as a senator, my opponent has not had many accomplishments. Of the hundreds of bills he has submitted, only five became law - and one of them was ceremonial. But to be fair, he has earned a special distinction in the Congress. The nonpartisan National Journal analyzed his record and named John Kerry the most liberal member of the United States Senate. When the competition includes Ted Kennedy, that's really saying something. It wasn't easy for my opponent to become the single most liberal member of the Senate. He earned that title by voting for higher taxes, and more regulation, and more junk lawsuits, and more government control over your life. And that sets up a real difference in this campaign. My opponent is a tax-and-spend liberal; I am a compassionate conservative. My opponent wants to empower government; I want to use government to empower citizens. My opponent seems to think that all the wisdom is found in Washington, D.C.; I trust the wisdom of the American people. Our differences are also clear on issues of national security. The most important question for voters in this election: Who can lead this war against terror to victory? My opponent has a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of this war against terror, and he has no plan to win in Iraq. The cornerstone of my opponent's plan for Iraq is to convene a summit. I've been to a lot of summits. Since I've been your President, I've been honored to be at summits throughout the world. But I've never been to a meeting that has deposed a tyrant or brought a terrorist to justice. The way to defeat the terrorists is to stay on the offense, attacking them abroad so we do not have to fight them here at home. My opponent last week claimed he can work with our allies, yet, he said those who are standing with us are not a part of a "genuine" coalition. He earlier called them a coalition of the "coerced" and "bribed," and dismissed their sacrifices as "window dressing." You cannot lead by pushing away the allies who are already with us, who are sacrificing along with our soldiers. You can't expect any support for a cause you have called a "mistake," a "grand diversion," or the "wrong war" at the "wrong time." The way to lead this coalition is not to be disdainful or dismissive. The way to lead this coalition to victory is to be clear about our thinking, grateful for their sacrifices, and resolute in our determination to achieve victory. Let me say one last thing about my opponent. Perhaps his most disturbing recent comment was when he said that America has to pass a "global test" before we can use our troops to defend ourselves. He wants our national security decisions subjected to the approval of a foreign government. I will continue to work with our allies. I'll work with the international community. But I will never submit America's national security to a "global test." Decisions about America's national security will be made in the Oval Office, not in foreign capitals. Can we count on you to show your support one last time before this election? www.GOP.com/Support Four years ago, I had the honor of traveling this country with Vice President Cheney and other Republican leaders and we made a pledge. We said if you gave us the chance to serve, we would uphold the honor and the dignity of the offices we sought. With your hard work, with your help, we will do so for four more years. May God bless you, and may God bless our great country. Sincerely,
He's so fucking compassionate that he's willing to get rid of those estate taxes! . . .'Cause you know about those ghetto kids and their estates. Bush is really helping the working class, you stupid liberals.
What this forum needs is much less passion in its discussion, and here is why most of the discussion is impotent anyway. Both candidates are the same, nothing is going to change, you are argueing in vain. Now, wouldn't we all want the world to be peaceful and relaxing and free from anger? Then start with yourself, and try to look at life with a lighter perspective, a more humorous one. Peace
...actually, I was looking at it lightly, but I suppose I came out darkly sarcstic, huh? Sure, I will lighten up. Seriously.
The only victors of this up-coming election will be the corporate elite who own both parties. They can celebrate the success of a charade being passed off as an election. Mission accomplished.
Yes totally, man. And I just looked at my reputation meter thing, and have gotten TWO negative ratings from this thread alone. First, let me say that I am about to sound like a huge asshole. Isn't it alarming how hostile some of you are, being on a message board that claims to embody peace, love, hippie dippy shit? And I'm sorry if that sounds hostile, but I have the will to think for myself and not become a 'nonconformist' conforming to nonconformity. I have a mind of my own, and although I think a lot of truth is in the hippie philosophy, much of it is bullshit. Or maybe I've just been reading too much Nietzsche lately, who knows. I just can't stand to see hypocrisy in those who claim to hate hypocrisy in others, such as religious leaders or politicians. Do you have the will to rise yourself to the level that those leaders have risen to? Probably not, and so you are not worthy to judge them. Do I sound like an intellectual elitst? Well, maybe I do, and it's because I believe that only those with the intelligence required by certain societal roles DESERVE to fill those roles, and is it any coincidence that those roles happen to be in high places? Perhaps because they realize the basic human will, which is fear right now, and realize that the beast that man is must be controlled, or at least sheparded. It's the brutal truth. I posted this article not become I'm 'supporting' Bush. I support neither candidate. I support no corporate candidate, which is why I make no distinction between Bush and Kerry. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE, YOU ARE VOTING FOR THE SAME MACHINE. Don't waste your pathetic time arguing about 'which candidate is better'. Put your energy to much better use, and go out and make love, haha. Peace, and I don't mean to sound like an asshole in this post. I'm just trying to show the hypocrisy inherit in some people who claim to dislike those who publicly display their hypocrisy, such as religious leaders or politicians. Remember, there is a Green Party, a Libertarian Party, and a Constitutional Party. Don't buy into the two party bullshit, and the sooner people realize this, we will actually have the government we believe ourselves to deserve. Right now, our massive apathy is bringing us the kind of government that we deserve. It kind of shows you how disgusting we as a people really are. But fuck, I'll stop ranting and just shut up.
Ha! People actually thought you were being serious about this. How lame. Anyway, I most certainly agree with the above two posts. Unfortunately, most people are too conditioned by the media and society in general -- into this controlled mindset -- to see outside the perimeter of the grand paradigm which encapsules the two mainstream parties that rule and corrupt the country.
Yeah, how totally lame. How could you guys not see he was not serious! Everyone here thinks the same you know..... and there are no Bush supporters Well, maybe if you are scared by all of us "hippies", you should find a less hostile site to visit....Mr. Dippy Shit. Holy SHIT, you just managed to sound stupider than George W. Bush himself. I know dogs that are smarter than Dubya. You think Bush got to where he is by intelligence?! You pathetic misinformed clown! Half the elite are not there because of hard fucking work or intelligence, don't be such a half-wit. Please shut up. No, there are two parties. People don't want the other parties. Alrighty? Sure some of you weirdos on the fringe do, but most Americans don't. Bye now.
Okay, you have done nothing but shown your own level of passion, by the angry and opinionated remarks you've posted here. When I speak of elitism rising to power, I meant it as an IDEAL. Of cvourse I know that most of the 'elite' are simply people who were born into rich families. What I'm talking about is people who have the INTELLIGENCE to rise to power. But of course, that won't ever happen in America, anytime soon at least. I figured that a few people would get pissed at my post. And you know what, that is what I meant for it to do. For it to challenge your own beliefs. Trust me, I believe in the idealogy of the hippies, but as for the realism of it, it simply isn't relative. Now, if you would like to ask me questions and have a discussion, please do so. But it's kind of hard to answer questions when they are channelled through such an opinionated medium such as yourself. Once again, in case there is ANY misunderstanding. I AM NOT A BUSH SUPPORTER. I was simply exercising my right to post alternate viewpoints, and I did so simply for the reason of causing others to read their 'opponets' views and maybe even consider or even challenge yourself to understand them. But then again, this is all just idealogical bullshit. I should probably take my conversation to the Religion and Philosophy forum, since it seems more relevant to what I am trying to discuss.
I am passionate and I don't see it as a problem. I'm an avid Kerry supporter and avid Bush-hater. There are good reasons for that, as there are significant differences between the two, anyone who hasn't been brainwashed by the likes of Nader can see that. Well, gee, I guess when any of us talks about our positions we are referring to "ideal" circumstances. Most of the people qualified (IMO) to be in power will never get there because they are modest, non-greedy, humble people -not power-hungry, selfish bastards. That is what it takes to get into positions of power, that drive and of course, connections. What? How did that challenge my beliefs? Please rest assured it did not. Nope, I don't have any questions for you. I have opinions, but I'm not biased. I seek the truth and form my opinions based on that alone. I have yet to find a political party that suits my beliefs. You're crazy if you don't think we know "the opponent's" view's. I know them as well as I know the candidates I support. You're not offering us ground-breaking news here, don't be so naive. You obviously think you have us all figured out here, but the fact is there are a number of diff. viewpts. expressed by people here, it's pretty diverse, so you shouldn't lump everyone together. Who knows what you were trying to do.
I'll give you my own personal experience, and hope that it might be relevant to yours. I used to be an activist and all of that jazz too, way back in the day before suddenly everyone became interested in politics. I was one of those who predicted all of this, and what would happen. So far, I haven't been that incorrect, yet. One night though, I finally let go of the politics because I realized that I was straining myself to try to 'make a difference' but in reality, I was changing nothing. Hence, it wasn't worth the exertion, and so I simply let it go. The next morning, I noticed that I felt that much lighter, that much more peaceful. I wondered why, until later I realized that I had LET GO of certain artificial burdens that were bounding me. That's all I was trying to say in my response. I was actually trying to help you, help you let go of some of your attachments. But it's alright if you don't, and it's alright if you do, it doesn't really matter much in the end. The only thing that really matters is how much personal peace you can gain.
lol. "Way back in the day"? and youre only 20. So we're talking a political activist at age 10? Somehow the image just doesnt quite fit.
Okay, I can see that there are way too many judgemental hypocrites on this forum, so I think it's best if I just leave. Like my friend Melissa said, "too many rascals and fools on there". just remember, i was once on your side too, and espoused the same political and philosophic beliefs. But, I have became disillusioned from them, the same way I became disillusioned from christianity and society. So remember that, that even though you have found what you believe to be truth, it is not. I'll be the spite in your eye that refuses to let you forget that there are far greater things out there than what you currently believe to be. You must have the strength to challenge all of your own beliefs. Even the ones that you believe blindly in.
my goodness, question statements made by a 20 year old "god" and suddenly we're all hypocrits? what exactly have i said which can be construed as hypocritical? Do enlighten me God rather than running away. And for the record, i have little doubt that Ive challenged my beliefs and had them challenged far more over a much longer lifetime of political consciousness than you can lay claim to, my young friend. As for what's "out there", i've likely seen much more of that than you as well. Perhaps you should run along and play with Melissa if you are so certain you have all the answers at age 20. lol.
You should like quite a bitter 39 year old. So if by your beliefs, age is relative and hence I'll probably have the same bitter and sarcastic tone that you have, once I reach age 39. Seriously, how am I supposed to answer your questions when it has such a judgemental and blatantly insultant tone? You are just proving my point, that too many people here are completely bought up in their own passion, and are blinded by it. I mean, am I attacking you personally? No, but that's all I get in return, from any of these so called 'activists' that seem to inhabit this forum. If they would just let go of their passion, they could be capable of so much more, but instaed they settle for this petty bullshit. That is why I have no pity.
Gosh I really hope someday I can be as enlightened as you. This is the most important election probably ever. If you are not aware of this, you are just not paying attention. And now you would like us to do the same. No, sorry, I won't. Just because you failed to make a difference, doesn't mean we will. I can handle my zeal and ardor for politics, it doesn't affect my life adversely at all. It's interesting. I enjoy learning about it. You couldn't handle it, too bad for you. I'm at peace with myself. Now, go sit under your tree and meditate or whatever the hell you do with all your free time now that you're above worrying about "politics".
Truly interesting. Lets see if I get this straight. First off when your reference to "back in the day" is lightheartedly called to question, we suddenly become "judgemental hypocrits". Then when questioned further as to what constitutes any legitimate hypocrisy (as hypocrisy requires one to contradict a previously declared position or demeanor), we are further assailed as "bitter". Well sorry to disappoint you, my young padawan, but im not feeling the least bit "bitter", nor was there any bitterness in what I posted previously. More a case of ongoing amusement at what seems to be more rightly a case of transference on your part. The only question put to you was to clarify what constitutes "back in the day", as it was applied to your glowing self endorsement as a one time "activist" back "before everyone became interested in politics". Given your mere 20 years, I would be mightily interested to hear at just how a yo0ung an age you actually undertook this activism and upon what basis you can attest that it precedes "everyone's interest in politics". Hurling vitriol in response to simple questions only suggests that the issues of bitterness and judgementalism of which you speak are your own. So do you care to enlighten us on the true scope of your amazing base of experience and comprehension?
HEY! OH MAN, FUCK YALL NIGGUHS!!!!!! UHHH HUH HUH HUUHAHAHAUAHAHAAAA!!!! HOW LONG HAVE YALL WORKED FOR THE LOCAL GESTAPO???!!!
