Dave Matthews Band, has released a new one today its called Stand Up! I would highly recommend it to any current Dave Fan, or not. This Cd has some really good tunes that you will be dancing too, Carter takes a lead role in the band and lays down some great beats, still the great solos of Moore, and Tinsly, and Matthews still writes great lyrics, the band has not lost its sound and still has its touch on your mind and heart but with a help of new producer they made a Cd that sounds alot clearer. Pick up your copy today!! or if you got it share your opinon on it!!

I've only head some of their older albums... crappity crap crap crap.

the allmusic review will keep me from slaughtering my ears ever again:

".... it finds the band right back where it was after Before These Crowded Streets: the guys don't know what the hell to do next."

"....DMB decided to team up with a very different producer this time around -- Mark Batson, who made his bones with modern R&B and hip-hop records by the likes of India Arie, Joe, Beyoncé, and Seal. This doesn't result in an extreme makeover -- which, quite frankly, would have been more interesting -- but instead a gentle gloss on the band's sound that renders it sleek, muted, and rather lifeless."

"And when the group does lay into a groove, as it does on the title track or "Old Dirt Hill" (never has a song struggled so hard to sound breezy), the music sounds stiff and stilted, a faltering attempt to replicate what came so easily to the band a decade ago."

"His ballads regain their sense of static, turgid monotony and he often resorts to the smirky humor that plagued his earliest work."

"To top it all off, Matthews sounds ragged, his voice breathy and torn to shreds. It's immediately distracting on the opener, "Dreamgirl" -- which romanticizes a "good, good drunk" -- and that scratchiness never goes away, providing an appropriately worn, tattered center for an album that is directionless, ham-fisted, consciously classy, and ultimately bland, the kind of record that could make longtime fans doubt about sticking around from this point on."

"Not only does Stand Up fail to solve the central question of where does the Dave Matthews Band go next, it suggests that even though they are aware of the problem, they haven't really pondered what to do about it, or what it means for them in the long term."

    ..... :D

I thought it was funny when their bus dumped the raw sewage onto the tourist boat from the bridge.

I will agree with some of your statements, but im loyal to the band that has introduced me to what i know in music, but i can't help to notice the humor in you using Dylan as your signiture, and still use this quote "To top it all off, Matthews sounds ragged, his voice breathy and torn to shreds."

Sure he may sound that way, but who doesn't who smokes about a pack a day. and Dylan is so know for sounding rough. (and just so you know i respect dylan as one of my top favs.) and ever hear of raw beauty?

And sure this CD may have no direction, but its almost expected that every band has a pitful ablum, just i love the band so i will stand by them.

But don't listen to other peoples opinon on music cause the source may be getting paid to make a bad review, listen to the music yourself and you like what you like.

    Peace Dude!!

Well I went and downloaded a couple of songs (Dreamgirl, American Baby, Smooth Rider).. ah what a waste of time that was. Listening to them was even worse than I expected. :(
His voice sounds nothing at all like Dylan's... Bob's been smoking atleast a pack a day for damn near 50 years, and he sounded better than Dave on Love & Theft (released in 2001..)!

Of course he's getting paid to review it, but I haven't read a single review on there that sounded biased... S.T. Erlewine was the reviewer too, and he knows music (he reviewed all of Dylan's and The Beatles albums, and most of The Stones albums), and I agree with pretty much all of them.... allmusic is a great site, there's only been a few reviews I've read on there that I don't agree with myself.

I've heard enough though... I'm definitely not going to hear the rest of Stand Up.

i feel like their albums are sounding a little more "safe" and over produced.....in that they are trying to appeal to the mainstream rather than taking risks and jamming out. i dunno, i'm a DM fan from 1993 and i've always loved them....i liked their last few albums but i've heard a just a little from the new one and i feel like it's going to be a disapointment. i mean i don't care that the band is so mainstream now, i just dont like the direction their music seem to be taking............i wish they would go back to a more acoustic sound.

I am a big DMB fan, and I think this album is horrible. It is over produced with the producer playing on all songs except one. Is he part of DMB now? Carter doesnt have enough freedom to jam out. Not enough of Leroy on this one. It isnt the DMB I have grown to love. It doesnt have the energy. Its to slow
