I saw this thing on the news this morning that all the parents are freaking out about now, because it's supposed to be "targeting the ages of junior high-school students". It's called Spykes. It's a flavoured beer additive that makes your beer taste like one of the four flavours : Hot Chocolate, Hot Melon, Spicy Melon, and Spicy Lime. You can also choose to drink these things, since they have 200ml per bottle at 12% alc/vol. I couldn't find the website (which was shown on the news, must've been taken down already) and I couldn't find the product on the LCBO or Beer Store websites either. I'm really interested in trying this shit, sounds wierd. I just can't imagine the hot sensation from a jalapeno pepper mixed with chocolate and alcohol, then dumped into a beer being a very nice experience.
nah, its not. theres tonnes of room for exploration. alcohol can go quite nicely with spice. i dunno about chocolate in beer though. meh, i doubt that much money would go into it if it tasted bad
I remember a double chocolate stout from the bar where i used to work. It was excellent on crisp winter afternoon, especially as it warmed from the cooler temp.
i've used them.. they make the taste of beer go away.. which i guess is the point, but i like the taste of beer.. so... hmpf
Lol the first person to reply to this as having tried the product is underage by 7 years. I guess they were right.
I wouldn't bother with it, I personally love the taste of beer. The thicker, the better. My dad has this 120minute IPA which is I think 12%? Alcohol doesn't have that bad of taste. You just have to have a selective taste for it. And to enjoy the full hoppiness of the beer is just really niice.
i would just pour one of these into a glass of vodka and soda or something... they sound kinda good! i guess their marketing is working lol.
