I do believe people should be able to take a deer or a goose for personal consumption without a permit. If that was the real issue I don't think it would be a problem. We have people that shoot just to kill with no respect of how this beautiful animal will suffer or die. Not for food or even a trophy. Nothing more than being able to say they popped a cap in this animal's ass. Pumping shot into a hurd of geese for the one or two that goes down where they don't have to walk very far, if they are retreived at all. Senseless murder. For what? Six deer in my area went down like this this year so far alone. Left to rot where they fell.
What really bothers me about it, in addition to the blatant disrespect, is the wastefulness. The animals they shot could have provided a significant amount of extremely healthy (and free!) eating. I am in the process of obtaining a hunting license, although it is for food (I don't want to fork out the astronomical amounts of money for split-quarters of grassfed beef...) The class I'm currently in the middle of is full of those whom you describe: People who are in it for the "sport" and about shooting the animals above all else.
Leaving your kill in the woods where it died is illegal in many places. A neighbor of mine had someone arrested for that and for trespassing. Most deer hunters are responsible enough to take their kill out with them. I don't have a quarrel with them. In many areas deer hunting is a necessity because it controls the population and prevents too many deer from over-foraging the local ecology. Humans have moved into their habitat and deer populations only get denser. Controlling the population by hunting restores balance to the local ecology so theres enough food for everyone. I'm not a hunter myself. But I know plenty of people that do hunt. And they use things like scopes and large bullets to ensure a fast kill so the animal doesn't suffer. Not very sporting but neither is shooting your lawyer friend.
To me this so called "sport" is cruel, violent, unecesary, and very coward. Oh sure, hide behind a bush and shoot a poor defenseless animal just for fun. I really don't understand how people could do such a thing... I don't believe in eating animals but killing them for food is a more understandable excuse... The thing I fing even more ridiculous is that you can legally shoot a deer or a duck but if you shoot a dog or a cat you will get fined or even go to jail. They are all animals and we share this planet with them and should respect them all the same. If they want to have "fun" or mount something on their wall then maybe they should all get together and shoot themselves. what fun that would be... i honestly just don't get it
Hunting for sher fun should be illegal. All game killed should be eaten, in my opinion. Killing a helpless animal is no different than murdering a person.
Thanx for that isish.....being a die hard hunter...if I kill it ...I use it,hell I raised 3 kids on nothing but game meat......mother earth will provide for us as long as we give back.......the aspect of people having the opinion of hunting being a cowards way is so mis-guided....and shows just how bad society has fogotten where they came from....cuz the advancement through time of man has been through the killing of animals for survival
Beyond that people overlook the benefits of controlling the deer population even if it is an artificial control. Letting deer multiply unchecked can ruin an ecosystem. Rabbits starve. Vegetation needed for erosion control would disappear.
take from earth only for survival .......do not take for greed or twisted fun . mother earth is balance .......
I think if someone is going to kill and not eat the meat, then they should at least give the food to someone else. I don't understand people's reasoning sometimes. It is just stupid. I agree with everyone else here: You kill it, you eat it. But what do you do when you shoot your hunting partner in the face?
seen it for years,,,, watched it for years, my own blood brother used to run them down on purpose.....atleast he would have nitemares afterward.... ... would love to be able to round up these sorry excuses for humanity and just shoot them down at random,,,,,,,,, but then again thats done everyday worldwide,,,, all by humans of course,,,, people really suck... i am an if ya hunt it or catch it,,, you eat it ,, plain n simple,,,, tis why i got rid of all my guns several years ago,,, i was not goin to eat my ex,,,, therefore guns had to go...
