I absolutely despise those damn ribbons... "Proud to Be American," "God Bless America," and worst or all, "Support Our Troops."

Can someone please tell me what the fuck "Support Our Troops" even means? Does that mean buying some Chinese-made magnet to put on your car? Does that mean electing a war-mongering administration? What the hell does that mean? Really, there is no way to "Support Our Troops," so the whole idea is simply moronic.

i had one on my car that said bring the troops home now..haha i think they are so annoying...theres always sum weird patriotic fad to try and get ppl to be in favor of government desicions..its bullshit.peace

 

They think they're actually 'helping' by slapping a fucking sticker on a car.
They could take that money and buy shit to actually help the troops..
Instead of payin 50 dollars a week to fill their big ass vehicles....

 

Livestrong bands make me sick, as do all these stupid "cahrity bands" that are the latest craze around here. You know somethings wrong when people want crappy plastic bands in exchange for helping charity.

 

Whats worse is that everyone seems to just assume that the money is going to charity. And they made the AIDS band rainbow colored. Might as well read "I support suckers and descriminatory steriotypes".

 

Precisally, its so amazingly stupid, as if buying a shitty little band of which 99% of the profits go towards "admin costs" is going to help beat poverty/cancer/AIDS/racism. And another thing, HOW DOES BUYING A PLASTIC BAND HELP BEAT RACISM!?

 

well, if everyone has loads of them of the same colour they can cover their eyes with them and then you can't see what colour skin someone has so you can't be racist

I doubt people buy them to actually support stuff, it's just to show there opinions more....like I have a be green bumper sticker, and a Will trade Bush for Trees one and Arms are for Hugging, peace through music so on and so forth. it doesn't do anything but it shows what I believe in.....but seriously, I hate them too...they are yuck and they're not unique every other car seems to have one....plus if you really wanted to support the troops you should be out doing something to bring them home...

 

all those livestrong braclets are stupid. i could make one. they only became such a trend that people forgot what they were about.

 

people don't care about charity, at school they buy them off e-bay and sell them on at stupid prices, somehow i don't think e-bay give money towards cancer research...

 

Patriots don't see the big picture in my opinion, they're going on about how much better their country is than all others while there's a world that needs saving.

The best way to support troops is to not recruit any, or at least not send any into actual battles.

My views. Over-simplified and too utopian, but I don't care.

See, there are certain things you could protest.. Such as America in general but when you talk about getting rid of the "Support Our Troops" ribbon, that's rediculous. A fucking fowl in itself. I think you all are missing the point. What's done is done, enough. I hate those fucking ribbons too, and the livestrong bracelets for that matter. But the point here is, you must support the troops out at battle. Bring them home. Don't replicate 'nam by spitting on the soldiers, you fuckers don't know blood. And sometimes it isn't anything but an administrative decision.. Please look more closely, I know people over there, I'm friends with them, my father was there for the gulf. Your telling me you'd want to not appreciate those who have gone for a bullshit cause and still fought anyways? They put their life on the line for lack of better options.. and what do we do as hippies, equalize them to shit. Respect a man in dress, and respect a man who is willing to go out into battle and risk his life. And Most Of All, respect man whether their decisions seem wrong to you or not... the only way to gain peace is to gain acceptance no matter what you are.

 

And where, exactly, did anyone advocate spitting on troops?
