Sponsors Flee Rush Limbaugh Show - 140 So Far!

    Rush Limbaugh's Radio show has lost at least 50 sponsors so far due to his recent attack on Sandra Fluke, the law student who testified before Congress on behalf of birth control. Limbaugh called Fluke a slut and a prostitute for wanting the government to subsidize birth control. For three days he attacked her personally and may soon face defamation charges if Ms. Fluke decides to press them.

    Nearly all the advertising space on his show is now filled with free public service announcements, and those may soon be pulled off the air as well.

    Rush Limbaugh has a $400,000,000 (yes, that's $400 million) contract, which may now be in jeopardy.

    And the advertisers are not only fleeing Rush's show, but it appears all controversial/negative talk shows. So far 98 advertisers have indicated they no longer wish to have ads on shows like Rush's, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, etc. These are some of the biggest names in talk radio, all conservatives!

    And with the elections coming up, this could be a big boost for Obama, who phoned Sandra Fluke to indicate his support for her and birth control. Some of these talk shows may be terminated if few sponsors can be found.

    Edit: A couple years back I'd sometimes listen to Savage Nation while making a weekly drive. I don't think he bothered me quite so bad.

    Rush, being considered by many to be a big mouthpiece of the GOP, has done more to hurt the party with his statements than the dems could ever have done in their wildest dreams.

    I wouldn't expect a solid political stance from Rush because he is an entertainer not a pundit or bright policy maker. He appeals to the basest egotistical perspective which is to gain a feeling of rightness at the expense of critical comparisons with others.

    Maybe because he is the biggest right-wing talk show host with the most listeners and when he spouts something this outrageous it hurts his standing.
    As I mentioned in a previous post, many people see him as a mouthpiece for republicans.

    I'm not freaking out...I'm reveling in him shooting himself in the foot! :2thumbsup:
