Hiya! So I could use some advice! So I consider myself a Christian, but to most I probably wouldn't seem like it (not at all probably). Like I really do believe in God, there's no doubt about that. I can't shake the feeling that He's there. I've written letters to him, prayed, asked for things and gotten answers, all that good stuff and it's great, but that's not what my problem is. See I guess you could say I don't follow the rules in which a christian should and honestly, I don't want to. There are things I do that I'm supposed to, like masturbate and like girls when I am girl, but I want to keep doing that stuff that because I like it and it makes me feel like me. I don't want to follow rules that don't make me happy. I also have my own theory about how judgement days works and my own theory about the bible that are probably wrong, but I can't shake those theories either. So I guess what I'm trying to say I need some advice I guess on how to live my life kinda, or rather point in the right direction (I kinda don't like being told how to live my life)
I think right and wrong are subjective, and no one can tell another how to live their life. I can relate to where you are coming from though. My belief is (currently) that if you live your life trying to gain more than you need of anything, whether it be possessions, love, attention, time, etc, you are wasting your time.
Step one: Dig deeper than "The Bible", that was a fabrication given to the world by a Pagan Roman Emperor at a time when the Jewish Pesantry was stirring up a great deal of trouble in the Middle eastern region, likely as a means of making them feel less disenfranchised. Constantine and his "Scribes" had a far greater interest in keeping people in line than getting them through the gates of heaven http://gnosis.org/naghamm/nhl.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9foi342LXQE
I would say worry more about the big stuff. As long as you are generally trying to live by the rule of doing onto others as you would have them do unto you, you are pretty much ok.
Though I'd like to add, if there are those "Doing to you that which you would not wish to be done", by all means give them a good taste of their own Bullshit, maybe they'll think twice before repeating the error of their ways with the next unfortunate soul they cross.
Have you taken a serious look at other belief systems and spiritual viewpoints? When I see Christianity presented as THE alternative to atheism, that's a red flag to me.
I don't see why you have to follow any rules at all. Be your own kind of Christian, if you want to. Isn't it your God-given right to identify yourself however you want, so long as the identity you assume isn't harmful to anyone else? I don't think anybody really knows Jesus better than anybody else, because if he loves you so much, it must be a deep personal relationship that goes beyond titles like priest and pope. I'm not really into Jesus, though. I don't really have much use for a guy that is just "on my side", because he must know me so thoroughly that it's pointless to even speak to him, because he already knows. You just have faith that he's the human face of God. I don't know why it's so important for God to have a human face. It's an irresistible superhero to some people. We should contemplate more the psychology of Jesus, if we want to determine if he exists. And it wouldn't be that hard to do. If Jesus is perfect, does that mean he is perfectly sexy, for instance? I don't think anyone would call being sexy a bad thing. It's important to be sexy. Or was Jesus so apart from sex that he just appeared to be sexless? But would that be "perfect"? He wouldn't really fit in; people would probably always ignore him in favor of sex. I think Jesus would necessarily have to be perfectly sexy, and what does that mean? How does he couple enjoying sex with being abstinent. How does he achieve being a rabbi whilst simultaneously being the sexiest human being of all time without it seeming like some preposterous joke? I'm serious. What does it mean to be perfect? Just sayin'.
To me, Christianity means following the teachings and example of Jesus. I see the core of his message as peace, love and understanding, being forgiving and non-judgmental, following the Golden Rule, and showing active compassion for the poor and society's outcasts. Jesus didn't say a single word about masturbation or same-sex attraction. I don't believe that we're entitled to do whatever we want because we want to. We're not entitled to use others as means to our own ends, or to harm them. But generally speaking, love is the answer.
being Christian means that you follow the tenants of Christianity. if you don't want to live that way then you just shouldn't try to be a Christian. so while the bible doesn't say anything against masturbation, it does condemn homosexuality. do you like guys also? would it not be worth it to give up girls for God? Jesus said, "But why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?"
