    I am so excited!

At my college cafeteria we have a self-serve waffle line... batter is pre-poured into Styrofoam cups and you take the batter and pour it into the machine and make yourself a waffle. Well, I was pretty upset with this because after you use the cup, you're supposed to just throw it away! How wasteful is that? So I wrote a letter to the head of dining services asking her to consider another method. She wrote back and said that she shares my concerns about the use of Styrofoam but she still uses it because Styrofoam insulates the waffle batter and keeps it from separating. However, she said that she would start putting out a pre-mixed pitcher of waffle batter with a reusable plastic measuring cup instead of the styrofoam cups.

See! you can make a difference!!

way to go getting rid of the styrofoam. Although after reading this I really wish I had access to a self serve waffle line. Waffles rule.

Hey that's great! One person can make a difference, thanks for sharing, I hope it inspires others to do the same. The place I worked at a couple yrs. ago didn't recycle and I made some containers with labels like aluminum cans, paper, plastic and set them out and then everyone recycled. I felt good about it.
