Soon to be cola person here - was down there from 2005-2008 working on coursework - headed back to NY thinking I'd write the diss from there - but too many wonderful and beautiful reasons (family, friends, shows) to not do it here - so heading back to cola aug 1 for 18 months to finish up .... I'd love to find some like-minded hippies this time - only met one while there the first round!
I grew up near Spartanburg. I'm from California now but I still keep in touch with back home. So... hey y'all.
I was in columbia last month. Best thing was swimming in river lol. Wish they had an outdoor concert venue. Love charleston
Recently relocated back home to SC - small town outside of Cola. & I'm restless as all get out. If possible we all should try to arrange an hipforums SC open minded peeps summit or gathering, a picnic @ Congaree NP or met up one night in a downtown bar or afternoon in a coffee shop. I'm all about this idea proposed eariler in this thread - so who's in - anyone else who's bored w/the usual SC crowd - let's make it happen! Who else is in? Any input? :sunny:
I've been beating this drum for a long time. People are usually too transient here, come and go. Hard to organize anything as a group.
i just left greenville in july. crazy area. i stayed in the motel district tooooo loooong! rock everywhere! center of the city was ok. met a couple good ppl there. i went to asheville next left there last week. awsome time there . u should check it out
I'm from Easley, which is between Clemson and Greenville. In Texas for a year though and will be back for the summer. Thinking about moving to asheville because i hear it's kinder there
Well, PonyGrl, I don't know "know" about Summerville - tho' I'm from the upstate - furthur up than Greenville...but, I'm thinking from Summerville that Charleston (but NOT alone) would be the best bet for a fun night/evening out. I have developed an overwhelming paranoia about driving at night in the last few years, especially in areas outside my little 20 mile perimeter. Hey...what can I say? I'm honest. As a young person, there was not a serial killer behind every telephone pole, and I did some traveling then...but no longer. Even tho' I don't live far from Greenville, I would be able to drive across the United States easier than I could negotiate over there. Columbia is easier than Greenville, and the last time I was there (going through) was about 11 yrs ago.
Welcome! I lived in Bennettsville for about 14 yrs, married a boy from Clio, and my son has relatives galore in Florence. I still keep up with a woman (I started to type girl ) in Bennettsville. Florence is pretty cool, espcially having Francis Marion and the malls. :sunny:
