Okay here's the deal, I hear a piece of music upstairs and I identify it in my head as a song I know. I get up the stairs to find its something completely different. But all the time going up the stairs I was humming along to the original song, so once your brain has been tricked into recognising the wrong thing because of a similar beat, dynamics etc does it let the senses fill in the blanks so continue to hear the wrong song?

Got me thinking that one, experiments needed!

What were the two songs? It'd help if I could hear the two parts of the song where you thought they were the same. It'd make for an interesting experiment...
