sound effects records

I need a good source for legal free downloads of sound effects, the kind that are perhaps used in games and/or radio broadcasts, perhaps including being on a train, at the beach etc - just a big variety of effects and sounds samples etc
You know the kind of thing - a door opening - car starting etc - cat meowing - dog barking, etc etc also maybe futuristic sounds

 

google it. i used to have a lot of links but they got deleted sometime. i just googled theatre sound effects or combinations of that and found quite a few free sites.

 

I tried that but I keep getting links to sites that demo a few and then want you to buy a cd

 

SoundDOGs! i've got a bunch of stuff from them i love. just about every kind of sound effect you can immagine, including recordings of the real thing, to foley, to synth and space effects. even without joining you can get half length samples.
