I was out with my dad today when we drove by a Sonic and decided to grab a bite to eat. We were going to go to Subway, but when I spotted the Sonic I said we should eat there instead. Sonic is fairly new to the area, so I wanted to try it having never been there before. I found the place strange. When you go inside there is a small counter that looks like the counter in a store that sells cell phones. Behind the counter is a wall with a very small menu of items, which behind is where they make the food, so unlike say McDonald's, you don't see where it is actually prepared. What I found to be really weird is that there are no cash registers behind the counter. Instead they have a wallet-type book where they place the money you give them and take the change from. They then give you a number you place on your table, and bring the food out to you when it's done. I have never seen this with fast food chains. I got the #2, which was a double cheeseburger. The burger was good for fast food, and much better quality than Mcdonalds. The fries it came with were also good. They were like Mcdonalds fries, but were crispier and had better flavor. My first impressions of the place is that the food is good for fast food. And yeah, I do enjoy bad food sometimes.
thought this was going to be about the bible messages they give out with orders. aint never been to sonic .. not sure we even have one.
We don't have them over here, sounds like its partway between a fast food place and a restaurant. I think our equivalent would be a cheeky nando's, possibly with the lads.
Yeah. What'a really great about sonic is the drink selection. Strawberry limeade, which I think they make mostly from sprite, but still very good. I also tip the carhops. I wouldn'the usually tip for fast food, but if you'received roller skating out to get me a limeade as fast as possible, I'love throw in a spare washington.
I just thought the place seemed weird inside, and it was pretty small, too. I liked the food, though, and would probably eat there again if I was on the road or something.
That is the Sonic I'm familiar with. We have 2 Sonics here in my town. In neither of our Sonics do you go inside. All parking spaces are outside and the girls (they don't skate at our's any more but they used to) come to your car to bring the food and get your money. You place your order over a loud-speaker kind of thing that is at each parking space. Our Sonics have all kinds of burgers and chicken sandwiches plus lots of specialty milk shakes. The burgers, fries and BLTs are excellent.
They're locally famous for their milkshakes and foot long hotdogs with chili. They only recently added a small area where you can come inside to order and eat. For about ten years, it was drive-in service only, plus a couple of outdoor tables.
I've never been to Sonic and tend to shun the fast food. I think they just opened one up around here, and people flocked to it to the point where there were lines out the door. :dizzy2: Can it really be that good?
i've never lived near a sonic, but i've eaten there a few times when i happened to be where one was available. i thought they were good for fast food. i never went inside or used the carhops, always just did the drive through. the hardees near here does the thing where they give you a number and bring food to your table.
The sonics around here don't have an inside area at all, just the carhop service and a few outside tables. To me the service and the food isn't really any better than any other fast food restaurant. I do remember their burgers were above average when I was a kid but I think they've went down in quality a lot since then.
afaik there are only a handful of beef burger manufactures. so basically, a burger at one restaurant will be the same as another, it just depends on how the makes them, grill, charbroils, ect..
The quality of their chili is a lot better than I would ordinarily expect from a fast food chain, and I don't fix hot dogs at home because I'd never use up a whole pack before the expiration date.
