Songs of New Years Past

Does anybody have a song that reminds them of a particular New Years?

For me it was NYE 94 going into 95. I was 22 and going to a "formal" NYE party with my friends. The guys wore suit and ties, the girls put on their best dresses, we had our campaign bottles and were ready for an amazing night.

I remember hearing this song on the radio and thinking it was some kind of an omen. I ended up crashing and totaling my car on the way to the party ( I wasn't drinking yet). The cops towed the car away and we took a taxi to the party and still had an amazing night.

That New Years was a major turning point. It was one of the last years we all got together like that. After that we staring drifting apart, people got married, started having kids, some starting using hard drugs, and some have passed away. But I'll never forget the times that we had and this song always brings back those memories.

Those are good memories except your car Glad you made it out ok.

Mine was 2003 into 2004. I went out with a bunch of my girlfriends to our normal local dive bars where we were regulars. Hung out with the other regulars away from all the crazy NYE crowds. We got TRASHED because the bartender quit charging us then ended up at a friends uncles house party at the end of the night (we had a designated driver) where the normal group of girls were huddled in the bathroom crying about stupid shit while my friend and I were being stupid, laughing and rolling around on the floor. I have some amazing pictures from that night. This was the song we kept playing that night. They played it at the bar and we had it in the car also.

Yeah I can't believe it either. The years just seem to fly by now.

I've actually never heard this song, and it's so appropriate for the story. Lol.

So what memories does this song bring back for you?

 

Well when the Boston Celtics won the 1981 NBA championship my father took me to Logan airport to meet the players as they were disembarking and that song was playing in the airport terminal
