It's been said that certain songs can remind you of certain instances in your life so I was wondering if there were any songs that reminded you guys of any specific times of just getting high or chilln' with friends or anything like that. There are quite a few songs like that for me but one that sticks out isnanytime I hear Dazed & Confused I think about a few years ago on spring break when I was over my friends house. It was super nice out so we lit a bonfire in the way back of her property at like 3 in the afternoon & were just chilln smoking bowls, drinking, & listening to the radio that was playing on my friends dad's tractor for hours. There was also a development that was being built through the field behind her house so we walked back & started walking through the unfinished houses imagining what it would be like to live there. My friends grandma even came out & was drinking w/ us for a bit, which was awesome. Later on in the night Dazed & Confused came on the radio. At that time I was high as shit & just staring up at all the stars & it was just so peaceful & relaxing but I was also having an awesome time just hanging w/ friends. It was one of the best feelings I've had in nearly my entire life & my friends & I still talk about that one day just b/c as simple as it was we all had such a great time just chilln' together.
Any popular steely dan song makes me think of Chilling on the beach in ocracoke with my good friends. Best time of my life man... We do it every year. Anything off the eagles greatest hits reminds me of when I was really little in a boat with my dad, camping on the lake in my signature. Bet what joker says will be interesting.
yeah whenever i hear steve miller band i think of riding around in the car with my dad when i was a kid. :cheers2:
Some Cream and Dylan songs really remind me of a trip to Italy I took in 07 which completely changed my life. "The Night Before" by the Beatles also do. Everything on "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" and "Bookends" (and a little off "Sounds of Silence") remind me of last summer, many Beatles songs remind me of last semester and drinking with good friends. "Europe '72" reminds me of this Christmas break. And for some reason "Strange Days" by the Doors reminds me of a trip to Disney World I went on with my high school band in 2005. All good times and some of them went without most of that music, it just brings me back to it for some reason.
I don't think I do it by songs but I do it by whole bands Sublime, anything by them reminds me of summer, but a specific summer like 4-5 years ago Grateful Dead reminds me of summer 2 years ago Mazzy Star reminds me of winter 3 years ago and breaking up with that ex Gin Blossoms remind me of last fall and that ex Seasick and Lazy Lane bring me back to my 1st acid trip, 5am as the sun was coming up as the acid was wearing off Dresden Dolls and HIM make me think of 11th grade Eazy E reminds me of going down to Sherman st to score dope Modest Mouse, Violent Femmes, Pixies, Sonic Youth makes me think of Branford and the point and the ocean ect I think more then events though bands remind me of people, but it'd be pointless to say who.
The only songs that remind me of specific times are lame. But here they are. Cascada: Every time we touch - reminds me of my senior year Formal or "prom" for you Americans. When I was dancing with this girl I had a massive crush on. We kissed right when the song slowed down. Hinder's Lips of an angel and Better than me remind me of dancing in the city... Same girl too. And Offpring's Gonna go far kid reminds me of driving around looking for houses. Sorta had to be there to get the atmosphere lol
Being older and a person with a very long menory, I have memories going back to when I was still in my crib, I find myself hearing a song on the radio or in a shuffle and I often think about many different times in my life. However, I will say one thing. I used to be a huge Billy Joel fan going all the way back to when I was like 10 years old. Well, that was something that my ex wife and I had in common. As a matter of fact we often would travel just to go to a Billy Joel concert. Well, now I will not even listen to Billy Joel. It only reminds me of good time with my ex but I don't want to think about it. I hear a Billy Joel song and I will change the channel or skip to the next tune.
what happened to starteken's signature and avatar? and startreken, i love billy joel too, what's your favorite album?
