You know, although people, including professionals, have always told me my problems are minor, I do sometimes think of this song "Somewhere" by Barbara Streisand. Often people with mental and psychological problems and disabilities are robbed of their freedom. Even to this day they are put in public hospitals and group homes. It's nothing like the past, of course. Actually, when I thought of how poignant this song was, I was thinking more of the 1950's and 60's in this country. The song is from the 1961 movie "West Side Story" with Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer. When Wood sings it on the balcony, I think she is talking about her love for Tony and how she thinks it will be stronger than the rivalry between the two neighborhood street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. Barbara Streisand came out with the song in 1985 on her "The Broadway Album". There's a place for us, Somewhere a place for us, Peace and quiet and open air Wait for us, somewhere. There's a time for us, Someday a time for us, Time together with time to spare, Time to learn, time to care. Someday. Somewhere We'll find a new way of living. We'll find a way of forgiving. Somewhere.
