I've been working on something new the last few days... My momma asked me to make a finished piece to go in an auction for her congregation (She's a minister at the UU church in Clearwater, FL). I thought this would be a good chance to try something new with packaging, presentation, etc. Here she is... And after taking the pics, I re-printed the info on a pretty sheet of paper, instead of the plain white. Here's a copy of what I put on it: Maya Hindu, The goddess of nature and illusion, the Universal creatress. Here Maya holds up her arms with pride and triumph as she presents the Earth and Sky for all to behold. She brings about the evolution of the present world through her power of illusion. This “wearable art” necklace was created with love and care entirely by Linnea Rochester Materials: Lampworked borosilicate glass beads, sterling silver, and braiding cord. To fully appreciate the depth and color of this piece, view it in full sunlight. For more of Linnea’s artwork, please visit her website www.hummblebee.com
Thanks again everyone! I'm getting impatient - My mom still hasn't made it out to the P/O to pick it up :toetap: (it got to them on Wednesday, but since it was insured they wouldn't leave it at the box, and she hasn't had a moment to pick it up when the office was open!) I'm really having fun with these pieces - I feel like they're feeding my soul in a way that nothing has in a while. Yesterday I made two goddesses when I was in the studio - Kali and Gaia, and seeing them after annealing them fairly blew my mind. This is something new, it's something exciting, and (if this makes any sense without sounding totally conceited) I feel when I'm making them almost as if I'm providing a vessel for something that's already there.
