A lady online recently said, "I tried reading The Bible again to become an atheist. So far, I’m still a Christian."

    My reply...

Try putting it altogether, that will help:

    • You are supposed to love even your enemies, but you shouldn't ever suffer a witch to live.

    • You are to love one another, and therefore slavery is wrong. Unless you enslave someone not of your tribe. Or your own daughter, if you really need the money.

    • Jesus overruled all of the Old Testament nonsense. We no longer have to avoid eating pork or avoid wearing garments of two types of fabric. But we must punish the gays for having sex.

    • It is the book of family values. You should never fornicate or commit adultery. Masturbation I don't know. Onan wasn't guilt of spilling his seed in Genesis 38: 8-10. What happened is he didn't obey God when he told him to impregnate his own sister in law. Now that last one is important too.

    • You claim the world is not flat, but it is 6,000 years old. Well, the Bible actually says both. (And the earth is definitely not 6,000 years old either.)

    • And now suddenly you say there is a word in the Bible that translates as homosexual. The word homosexual was coined in the 1890s. Homosexuality existed in ancient times. It seems to be caused by hormonal programming in utero. But they had no concept of it then. What on earth are you talking about?

Stop reading the King James Version and the English Standard Version of the Bible. Learn Hebrew and Aramaic, read the Bible in the original tongues. (It probably doesn't date back that far anyways, BTW. The Dead Sea Scrolls were a hoax too.) Then get back with us.

Never argue with someone whose entire world view is based upon a book prefaced by a story about a talking snake with a magic apple in an enchanted garden.
