thanks guys I don't sew them I just fold and use elastics, or sinew sometimes. It's really fun to do!
you are really master! Have u done all of them for you or are you selling them? I wish my tie-dyes were as pretty as yours
if you just want to hear "great job," skip this. If you want a tip, keep reading.... I noticed black bleed on your solar colors shirts. the trick is to put black down before the yellow and leave the tiniest of spaces, as the yellow will bleed over to the black. banishes the strange green those two make. (blacks have blue in the mix)
Great tip! I don't tye dye but that can/will come in handy I'm sure in some odd or end crafting I get into. It wouldn;t have occurred to me, so used to going from lightest to darkest. Ty sweetness!
Thanks guys! I sell these at weekend markets and craft shows. I have quite a few of my own though. And thanks for the tip Drumminmama! Sometimes I like the bleed, but sometimes I don't want it at all. I've thought about using that thickener stuff, has anyone here ever used that?
not really worth it, balancing expense, cleanup, time and results. I think it's better for painting-style techniques, such as batik details or painting on silk. Controlling bleed is a HUGE part of dye skill. Right after tight crisp folding. Those two are how I can tell if a person is new or the level of care put into a dye. Just remember you are dealing with liquid on a wet surface and cotton has LOTS of thirsty capillaries.
I would be interested in finding out how to fold for those designs...is there a website or something anyone knows?
