You have to keep it pulled tight as you wrap it around the wire at an angle, at least that's how i do it. I see a lot of people that try and use electrical tape that use a lot but they keep wrapping it really loosely around the same spot. sometimes they didn't even cover the splice completely cuz the tapes not wide enough that won't work, it won't be water resistant like that and any heat or humidity and its gonna fall right off and slide down the wire in no time they use a shitload of it too cuz its so loose so they think using that much will make it better but it just makes it look crappy. i start on one side of the splice with about one full tapes width of tape where the existing insulation is and wrap it as tightly as i can around the splice, finishing the same way on the other side of the splice.
I guess its misuse keeps electrical tape manufacturers in business. Although, I am not sure how much of an issue this is (worldwide).
yes, the shrink tube is nice and it makes it nice and pretty looking but tape gets the job done if u use it right just dont buy the assorted colored tape from radio shake, that shit really is useless idk if it was old or something but when i used it it wouldnt even stick it didnt even feel like it had glue on it
some people don't know how to use anything. hell, there's people at work that have to call the maintenance guy to replace a roll of toilet paper.
that's actually a joke i have with him. we're just waiting for someone to write in the maintenance book "i had a poop and now i need a wipe."
