• When you wash glasses and cups, give special attention to the bottom and bottom sides. That's where food, and thus germs, collect. And never stop washing until all visible food traces is gone. Food left behind decomposes. • And if you are washing something you don't use very often, wash it very thoroughly. You don't want food you missed staying in it that long. Or water even. It also tends to collect dust that way, and dust carries a lot of microbes in it. • And give special attention to the bottom. The top rim of cups you only have to wash thoroughly if you live with someone else, for the mouth germs. But the bottom some people forget about. Because you never know where you lay a cup. Usually coffee tables and on coasters that you never wash. There are a lot of invisible germs there you know.
I started a thread about how to use a sponge so it lasts much longer (hint: clean the sponge thoroughly during and after use).
Alternatively, just adopt the policy, 'Things that are not used, never wear out'. Are you old enough to remember the Pears soap advert....... 10 years ago I used your soap, since then I have used no other....... The caption picture was of a tramp.
