Yup, it's time again for me to express my hatred of the military. I mean, I just don't get it, I really don't. We send off our "brave" (stupid) young men (and sometimes women I guess?) to "fight for our freedom" (die), and then get all teary-eyed and spew patriotism and sentimentality when, who would have guessed it, they fucking die. As if it wasn't our OWN FAULT for sending them to die in the first place! We not only tolerate war and death, we fucking promote it to an insane degree! We blindly call other nations "the bad guys" and feel no remorse for killing tons of them, but when ONE BRAVE SOLDIER DIES FOR HIS COUNTRY WE GOTTA REMEMBER WHAT A SAINT THAT PERFECT EXAMPLE OF A HUMAN BEING WAS AND THEN SEND MORE BRAVE SOLDIERS TO DIE FOR THE CAUSE BECAUSE LOGIC!!! It's the most fucked up part of our society by far, and that's saying something! Soldiers should NOT be given medals for how many "bad guys" they killed, or treated like heroes for "fighting for our freedom" (because stealing oil from other countries is CRUCIAL to our freedom, right?). It's all government propaganda and brainwashing bullshit! Soldiers should be seen for exactly what they are: Pawns, loyal little lap dogs who have been trained to kill without any sense of humanity left to them. They're all psychopathic and are being given a license to kill just so our government can further its own global domination agenda. WAKE UP SHEEPLE! FUCKING SERIOUSLY!!! Who here can understand what I'm trying to say? ANTI-SOLDIER HIPPIES UNITE!!!

Sol-diers. Diers for the sun god SOL.

As Henry Kissinger himself once said:

"Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy."

I simply cannot have respect for the unquestioning, unthinking mentality that decides to join a group that merely takes orders to kill. People join the military, and they wouldn't if they knew what the truth was.

When a country gets invaded, how do you expect the victims to react?

What I'm saying is we shouldn't be invading them in the first place, unless they are directly threatening us or innocent citizens.

just be glad we only "send" the ones who joined up to be sent....(well actually they joined for the paycheck and the tuition grants/education )...but anyway ...drafted/conscripted is one thing....joining up freely is another

So in other words... Yes we do need a standing army.

This is where your rant about soldiers being "stupid" goes off the rails....

When everybody stops invading and other aggressive military type actions we can all stop having soldiers. Until then we need them unfortunately.

It would mean the whole of humanity adopting an entirely new way of living.

They do not invade the real threatening countries. Not usually without Congress and an endless budget.

The military is a tool and it's used. It's an institution and some people love it that have gotten love from it. Others hate it.

My experience with the military wasn't so good. They have their secrets and selfish reasons for keeping those.

Wars bring out the worst in humanity. US troops have raped and killed in Japan, Viet Nam, Okinawa, Fillipines, Iraq, and other places. Most recently, there have been mass protests against US NAVY Bases in the western side of the Pacific, because of rape and killing. In Iraq, there is the story of a 14 year old girl who was raped and killed by US troops. Her entire family was killed right along with her. That was in Mahmudia. There are tons of records on Viet Nam. And don't forget Abu Ghraib. In Colorado the military was responsible for the Ludlow Massacre in the southern part of the state. That one was over a labor dispute; but, the governor brought out a gatling gun and shot up a miner's camp. Entire families were gunned down. They were mostly poor Irish miners, starving in a tent camp.

What if you live in the ghetto and you have two options to get out (because the drama, "acting white" phenomenon, and crab-bucket bullying keeps you out of college): military or police force? If you become a cop, you're the enemy among your own peers. If you join the military, you have: travel to other countries to broaden your horizons, respect of the country, a means of supporting yourself, discipline, and a means of paying child support. You can even have a wedding/funeral package. It's a gamble, but I wouldn't wish the ghetto on a living soul.

Most people in the military probably never fired a shot in combat. There are all sorts of soft jobs in the military. Working on vehicles and all sorts of infrastructure jobs. It takes so much just for one jet to take off and drop a bomb.

So people glamorize the jobs that actually do get to see a lot of action, because those people are rare!

well both of course, but mostly some poor bastard literally, who's country has been so fucked up by economic interests that there aren't enough civilian jobs to go around.

In peacetime the military is a great opportunity for unfortunate sons/daughters

In wartime it is a totally different beast, but you have to keep in mind the military tries to recruit young people straight out of high school. They arent necessarily brainless or mindless, just young and naive.

In my day, most were "drafted". They didn't want to be in the military, they had to be. Me, I had the choice of going in the military or going to jail....for stealing a carton of cigarettes. Well it cured me of stealing.

75,000 died in Vietnam for the profits of the military contractors. Only 6,000 died in the Iraq/Afghan wars, but another 75,000 came back missing an arm or a leg, or half their brain....the progress of the medical industry. The profits of Halliburton and Raytheon were in the TRILLION$.

U.S. troops are not dying for America, they are dying for the profits of the war machine. Troops aren't defending America when they are invading other countries. They are creating enemies faster than they can kill them.

Iraq Death Toll Reaches 500,000 Since Start Of U.S.-Led Invasion, New Study Says
That toll is far higher than the nearly 115,000 violent civilian deaths reported by the British-based group Iraq Body Count, which bases its tally on media reports, hospital and morgue records, and official and non-governmental accounts.
