Although I seen several kids going barefoot in my neighborhood, I also see a lot of them wearing only socks. As a parent, this was always one of my pet peeves! Socks are too expensive to ruin and laundering them is also a pain when they are dirty! Feet can easily be washed and your skin regenerates itself when wearing out! My kids have moved out, but I always reminded them to take off their socks if they when outside without shoes. Anyone else have to enforce the "no socks only" rule?
Walking outside in socks makes no sense to me. I've seen that only in the US, and I've always thought it was very weird. (But again, I don't walk in socks inside the house either.)
I wonder what the allure is? I've only seen one person in my lifetime who ever walked around outside (consistently) while wearing socks and no shoes. Whether or not socks are cheap, it seems they'd wear out a lot faster than shoes would.
Most definitely! That's what I think when my neighbor Shelly and her kids run around outside with just socks on. I don't know why they don't just take the socks off so they don't wear out so quickly. I'm sure they probably go through many socks in a year just because of them walking outside with just socks on.
My kids aren't allowed to wear socks outside unless they have shoes on. I can't tell you how many pairs of socks my kids ruin just being indoors, I couldn't imagine how much higher the count would be if they wore them outside.
