I think the title is self descriptive. Except if you are a vegetarian/vegan for more than one of the above listed reasons and are slightly confused, just choose your primary reason.
It started off only for the animals, but now that I've come to realize over the past 3 years how much healthier it is for me and the environment, it's a mix of all 3
I voted A/R because that is the primary reason I'm Vegan. But I'm also Vegan for my health and for the environment. Also, I'm a spiritual person, and I believe that God looks down at what we are doing to the animals and weeps.
I went with "animal rights," but I'm also vegetarian because I try to live by the teachings of Buddhism, and because it's allegedly healthier.
Animal rights then, I guess. That was initial reason. Though all the others are in place and apply just as much (aside from being raised vegetarian, my family are omnis)
for all of the reasons. i live out in the country, and there are alot of animals and farms. and when i look at the animals. it sickens me to eat them. it just like someone eating my pet dog. and its all too obvious to say that its alot healthier.
i had to vote coz i was raised a vegetarian.... but its also an animal rights thing and a health thing.....
I'm with a number of others here, needed "multiple catagory" catagories selections in the poll. My initial decision was a spiritual decsion out of respect for animals and for health reasons. .
I was raised veggie, i was taught the facts about meat and it put me off even more. Now im a vegan and its great, my parents are so PROUD! theyre like 'were so pleased that youre thinking for yourself' so its good all round!
my high school history teacher (my fave teacher)was a vegetarian & somehow got me interested in Ghandi. Also my dad (even tho he is an omni) was always giving us speeches about "you are what you eat....eat junk & you become junk" and lots of other food related stuff.
being harshly judgemental does not get people to listen to what you say, or take cues from what you model. If we profess such care for all creatures, aren't humans also worthy of that respect?
i used to eat dirt and boogers as a lil kid... but i grew up. then i grew up again a couple years ago.
a lot of people eat meat because they are tought that meat is necessary in human diet for some aminoacids supposedly contained only in meat. i was warned to this ''fact'' by many friends and family members when turned veg. coupla days ago in some talk-show on tv i heard nutricionist md declared this as a ''known fact'' and warned parents ''only meat contains some aminoacids necessary for development of brain so no child should be raised on vegan diet''. consider this reason for meat-eating too - misinformation and paranoia helped by meat-industry lobbies.
i wanted to put environment, but chose other because i thought you had a different definition of environment and you were referring to culture/circumstances. i do it mainly for the adverse effects the meat industry has on the environment... meaning, the ozone layer, sewage, efficiency of grain vs. meat nutrition, etc etc. and the world in general.
