i thought this woulda been about the change in law before prop 19 which schwarzenegger signed the law that changed being caught with weed an infraction instead of a felon.

    but yeah good question

No matter what the law is, just keep using the herb if you're so inclined. Even though the republicans will talk about all kinds of draconian law and order freedom killing directives, the country is actually too broke to do shit about anything. Other than by the odd case of using someone as an example anyway. God gave us herb. Use it.

I don't understand. it seems like acceptance for marijuana is higher than ever in this country. I know so many people that would vote yes for medicinal marijuana or legalization if it ever came up in my state. I am guessing it has something to do with the 35-70 group having a better voting attendence than 18-34, the generation most likely to vote yes on any marijuana related measures.

Definitely. Acceptance is higher than ever before, and it will be even higher next time. Even though it didn't pass, progress has still been made.

Honestly, I am beginning to question the 'it will come in time thing'

I used to believe that it was just a matter of time for a lot of things. Watching the financial news, the politcal news and such in the last little bit has me questioning it all...

The ONLY way to improve things for the masses is by taking away from the rich... You can call it what you want... taxes, fines, fees whatever... the point is the reason there are those without, is because there are those who have more then they need.

Now stop and think about the last 10 years... Bush comes in, supports businesses and the rich, and gets pretty much everything he wants passed, even though his party doesnt control both house and senate... Note that I am not saying he got everything he tried to pass through, just what he wanted... Him and his party, embroil the US and its citizenry, as well as many other countries into two wars, ran up the debt higher then it ever has been (you CANNOT ignore the cost of the wars he started).

Obama comes along and says he is going to do what needs to be done... tax the rich, help the rest... says he will end the wars and so on...

Right at this point... stop and think about whats going on in the minds of those rich...

If Obama has his way (the way he spoke of before being elected), they will lose money... no matter what happens... even if the economy recovers and the wars end (especially if the wars end for a lot of them), they will LOSE money... because he is going to take it away from them...

So, as that rich person... do you invest in the economy and do what you can to help fix it? Or do you yank it out of the markets and watch them spiral out of control until you can get someone in the white house who isnt going to take away your money?

With that thought in mind... fast forward through the last two years... look what happened... Look what happened on the financial markets when the republicans gained control of the house again...

Whats this have to do with weed? That same mindset, is more then capable of throwing your country (and any others like it) to the wolves in any way to make sure their pocket books get fatter.

In ways, its even worse when it comes to the weed issue, because it isn't just the rich who are against it to protect their pocket book, it is every single dealer who is in it to make money.

That's like the best thing I've ever heard.

On a side note I actually just came to the realization that it's honestly so funny that weed is illegal, I just smoked up and I'm so happy right now. Everyone else is missing out, let it be legal or not I don't care lol.

There were a great many local ordinances passed on the county and city level in California regarding cannabis. The most common one was to tax medical cannabis, which imo, is a step backwards and totally uncalled for since no other medicines are taxed!

Some measures were very specific about whether dispensaries were to be allowed in the district, how many, under what circumstances.

These kinds of details are up to the localities to determine, and they are busy writing new laws either welcoming cannabis or banning it.

Under prop 19, things would've been much more cut and dried, but still localities would've had to determine the specifics for their jurisdiction.

And Tom, no need to worry about the Rich losing money. We are ALL LOSING as the dollar devalues....

The rich can afford to lose money and recover easily... the rest of us can't.

That's why the fact that the financial markets just took off is so telling... There had to be people (with money) sitting back and holding on to it for it to jump as it did.

The republicans have already said they are going to do everything in their power to get obama out and repeal everything he did... That's only good for the rich...

What really blows my mind about all these issues is that there are a lot of otherwise free thinking seemingly intelligent people who think that the republican party is for anything beyond making the rich, richer...

There seems to be a disconnect between the fact that by voting republican the only people they are helping make, earn or save more money are the rich...

All these people that go on about leftist agendas and socialism this and communism that, while starving... supporting those that are throwing out more food in a month then a family could eat in a year... It's mind boggling...

Makes one want to roll another joint...

this has already been happening by the state and usg... now specific counties can ALSO tax growers.. this is why prop 19 did not pass.. growers don't want to be taxed more than they already are.. growers don't want to get milked dry by taxation

Republican.. Democrat.. these labels don't mean much anymore.. and it drives me nuts when i hear people go "well i'm just going to vote DFL" WHY! there are conservative dems and liberal republicans... if you only vote based on party.. and not based on their actual beliefs... those are the voters that are really fucking up this country

I seen my aunt drop 60k into something that just might flop .. all her husband insurance . passed away, and he was a drunk. She decided to buy a coffee shop and its nice.. Sadly due to strict cannabis laws and the fact that I dont want anyone to get hurt because, Im associated with them. I can not give props to the location.. :(

No. there is not cannabis being served there, but even my 72 year old aunts wildest dream, is to have a relaxed atmosphere where people can enjoy live music, poetry, joke night, ect. With relaxed cannabis laws in Californian and my aunt has been to the Dam, she goes to Mexico every year. She knows what can be and what cant.. Shes very disgusted with this town as she has lived here all her life and has seen nothing but the harm that Alcohol has done to her family and neighborhood. Though she is not without sin, she used to own bars too, therefore she knows the kinda yahoos it attracts.
She has also seen how crack cocaine has depleted her neighborhood.
I dont even know why I mentioned all this, hehe..... my uncle worked in the glass mill these have been dismantled..

Lots of times I just see my aunt doing things that us young people are doing. I taught her how to download youtube and she gave me 50bucks cause she loves her "Bad Company". but I dont want the money I said. She gave me money cause she said she has it, and its not going to do anyone any good not to use it now!

Now there are people that want her to fail, just as the bowling alley fails due to locations , and there are better alleys .. fuck it. We were just in the abandoned bowling alley the other day =,/ it could generate money, but what is that?.. I would rather start a business thats going to generate a community.. But theres always the evangelical part of that harmony , just what have you created and how long will this ungodly thing last? .. the same thing going through the minds of the negative over the gays and other things people want and dont want.. What a bunch of yin yang yoyos this species turned out to be..

Cant we all just get a bong and get over that "not in my backyard" bit.. get over the idea that all cannabis users are stung out drug addicts. Which we know isnt true thought people with drug addictions have been known to smoke marijuana..

Theres a person whom I have an extreme amount of respect for who has a mixed family... He's the first person to go off on a rant or crusade against racism. Everyone's equal, we're all the same, we're all one family and so on...

Yet, bring the subject of homosexuality around him and he's just dead set against everything to do with it... they shouldn't get married, shouldn't be public, etc...

He also has a slight problem in that he is racist... against white people (he's white)... and english people (he's also english)....

To me, this set of contradictions blows my mind... But people do this shit all the time about many different things...

I've heard lesbians argue against whether people are really bi or just confused... wtf is up with that?

lesbian or gays that argue against the idea of polyamory and refer to those that are involved in it as 'twisted'... lol

People are seriously fucked up... there is no way around this simple and blatantly obvious fact.
