Wednesday last week at ANZ stadium in Sydney Now, When I was in high school, AC/DC was a band I always hated, because everyone else liked them, they were everywhere...then later on because they werent metal enough....never really started getting into them until after 2000 This was the first time I'd been to one of their concerts, Stadium was pretty much full, havent checked but probably 50/60 thousand people It was a bizarre experience for two reasons: 1. The band themselves probably didnt even need to be there, it was friggin LOUD, great light show, but its just about that huge back catalogue of RIFFS, they could have just played their videos for 2 hrs and everyone would have still just been bobbin their heads. I was up in the nosebleeds, couldnt see the band members anyway, and because of the light show was blinded half the time. Still didnt matter, I came after work, was tired, with my brother and his friends and their wives, all of whom I dont like, not a single drink, no drugs.....none of that mattered, still had an awesome time, all because of those RIFFS ! Back in Black (the song) came on, and that just friggin pumped, thats my vote for the best rock and roll song of all time And of course, Let There Be Rock, the bassline in that , I'll never get sick of 2. Scratching my head as to why some other bands arent in the position AC/DC are still in. I saw Rage Against the Machine live back in 2008, I mention them cos its another band where you go to a concert and every song pumps with some sweet riffs, them and Guns and Roses could, should still be able to fill stadiums like that....but cant becuase they self imploded for wanker ego reasons Anyway, its been over a week now, and all Ive been playing since is AC/DC, one of the best concerts I've ever been to, even though everything about that night apart from the concert was pretty uneventful, it was a week night and we all had to work the day after. so we all just went straight home after, and as I said I dont like any of my brothers friends anyway One night in a club called The Shaking Hand There wasa niny two deci belle ROCKIN band!
did angus get on the shoulders of the massive security dude and ride on his shoulders around the floor doing a guitar solo? skip tp 350 to see it....at the show I saw he wandered around the floor seats for several minutes....it was awesome https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVpVWZH0VzI
I saw them in Ottawa in September and it was a really good show. They can still pull it off and the crowd was up for the whole show. Nice to see them again.
Had a little whine about the ticket price, AUD $170 for what the ended up being like a mile from the stage But a week later I'm still like Dern dern dern dern dern dern And the music was good, and the music was LOUD Dern dern dern dern dern dern And the singer turned and he said to the crowd Dern dern dern dern dern dern Let there be Raaaaacckkkk!
That's a whole lotta something! They are definitely one of the best live bands going but the ticket prices these days are ridiculous. Plus I'm kinda pissed they never wend to Halifax this last tour, but they can go to a fucking field in New Brunswick with no parking. In the late 80's I went to a Metallica concert for $25.
The price was about on par with here as it was about 200 for decent tickets. It was loud here as well as it should be. Who can listen to them and not have it loud. Or maybe I am still a teenager when it comes to volume. A good metal concert is when your innards vibrate. I felt badly that Malcolm is not able to play with them now and would have liked to be able to see him again before he became so ill. Such talent,it is sad that he is now in the shape he is in.
Yes with Malcolm gone and it's hard to say how much longer Angus and Brian will be able to do this, that's why I really wanted to go see them last September. But Moncton is 5 hours away from me and the time and costs are too great. It's the politics and greed of this big outdoor concert that i don't agree with. It's like they can only be bothered with super large outdoor concerts for 50-80 thousand people at once, that brings in 8-10 million dollars or more. Then you have the greedy middle men ticket sellers and venue owners taking more of that cut then the band themselves, I'm sure. "No, no, we cant stop one night at a city arena and make only 4 million, tisk tisk, dont be silly...". So to make twice as much money, they have it in a rural field with no infrastructure to support 50 thousand people and someone ends up getting killed crossing a highway. That wouldn't have happened in downtown Halifax. I'm not saying it's the band themselves but the weasels who organize these money grabbing events.
