So, I was watching the news today....

And on MSNBC they were covering a story about a model who was shot in the New York City subway. They placed such an emphasis on the fact that she is a model, as if it's any worse than if it had been just any ordinary person. Do you think this story would even be getting any coverage if this woman wasn't a model? Do you think if it was you or me it would get any media attention at all, outside of the NYC area?

And the thing is, she's not even a famous model that people have heard of, she's just a model. And the injuries she sustained were not even life-threatening. So, then they were interviewing these idiots - these so-called "experts" that they always have on - talking about the situation. And at the bottom of the screen, in the caption, the segment was titled "Miracle Model." All I could do is laugh and shake my head.

have you heard about the custody battle going on right now involving a playboy model?....bet that wouldn't get any media coverage if she wouldn't have been in playboy.....

 

That is so sad....Miracle model...what will they think of next..are they going to honor her with medal of bravery..

I did an image search for the shot-up model (Monica Meadows) and she is fine as hell. I’m sure that some ugly, fat lady got shot to death by her ex-boyfriend/husband some place in New York today; but since she wasn’t 5’10” or taller and 110 lbs. or smaller, she isn’t newsworthy. Poor Monica took a round in the shoulder, no more spaghetti straps for her!!!

 

Don't know bro. I bet if she elects to exploit that scar, it might even bring more attention to her.

If 50 didn't use him being shot in the face a few times, his popularity wouldn't of soared like it did. Kanye going through a metal detector to show the metal in his mouth? Exploitation.

 

True. I bet that the next time she's on the runway she'll wear something that exposes the scar and she'll get a standing ovation.

Yeah i noticed that before too. If theyre famous theyll get the coverage. if its just some normal people theyll ignore it most of the time. i think its rediculous and sad. the way the media is used in this country, the money that is spent, is probably the biggest amounts of money or one of the biggest things the government spends on entertainment and such.

this is just one of the rasons why i don't have a TV. voluntary media-deprivation has made my life so much more peaceful.

 

I can't find out anything about what happened... I googled and everything...maybe it's not that big a deal, after all...

 

they got the identity wrong, was really a bum that got shot, go on with your affairs and forget that some one inprtant had gotten shot.
