Hola! I've had my dreads for almost a year now and everything's going great (thanks to much inspiration from you guys) but I have this one dread on the front of my head, it keeps growing and not dreading, but it is dreaded about 1.5 in away from my scalp. The base of it is a thin patch of undreaded hair, and I worry that the weight from the dread will cause this undreaded hair to break, thus separating a large chunk of hair from my head. Picture time.

See what I mean? Is there any way to help dread the top? A bead, perhaps?

And here's a picture of my head, just for shits and giggles.

The weird pink ones are the product of bleaching + red Color Jamz hair dye that I put in like two months ago. I do not recommend this. At all.

I would try to find a fat/decent base sized dread that is relatively close to that one, hold them together and slide a kick ass bead in there and you're good to go!

Dreads are looking righteous by the way ;)

id suggest sumulat but not exactly the same
id suggest just dont rip that 1 from any it tries combinung with
but even if u dont it will be finse just will have a thinnner spot
give it 2-3 months without ripping it though and it should grab onto a dread it wants to marry andthe 2 will become one

Thank you both for replying! what I did was kinda twist two together and put a bead on em... looks like a mutant dread now but it's cool.

When I have about two inches of hair or so at the base that doesn't want to dread I just sit and rub it against my scalp a few times a day...

it doesn't seem like much but after a week or so I wake up and suddenly, its dreaded. hah

Sadly the base of several of them still have a little bit of wax I just cant seem to get out. I am debating if I should heat the wax with a blow dryer and squeeze a paper towel on it to absorb the wax, like you would do when you spill a candle on carpet.

Well, when I took it out originally I just scrubbed a bunch and a few times with some residue removing shampoo, and after a few washes it all came out, except for the shit near the base...

I suppose I should just try scrubbing again.

My dreads look funny though, because where the base is, even on the ones where I got the wax out, they are really tight, so they kind of balloon.

Almost like the way an animal balloon looks when you blow it up, only the thing side to my scalp.

soma - i had one like that at the front of my head too, and i was also scared that the weight would make it break, but hairs quite strong usually,, so maybe let it combine with loose hairs to fatten the root area up maybe? i cant offer any advice from experience cause i got rid of mine after 6 months..

Sweet! I also have some smaller ones (somewhere) of the same-ish design. Where did you get them? Mine were given to me
