If I started going into that, I'd end up wrting a multiple-paragraph post. Additionally, the things she does and has done, I'm not really comfortable sharing them on the Internet. But I can guarantee it's shit that most of your mothers haven't done.
My mom is usually very reserved. But we were just discussing the ex husband who had an affair on my mom sbest friend, and who is a total prick. And I said I hope he gets dick rot. Now I am rather a perverse child sometimes and my mom usually hates it, but it totally warmed my heart that she laughed with me
My mom was an engineer for 20 years and last year out of the blue put her two week notice in and enrolled in grad school to be an MFT. She also turned totally green about 5 years ago, bought a biodiesel car, started growing her own veggies and fruit and grains along side a MJ plant (she no longer grows or smokes pot). I def have a different type of mom. But she is the best...what other mom sends their kid scarfs they crocheted out of organic bamboo with a check? Usually it's one or the other. She also sends Andy e-gnome greeting cards that talk with funny english accents and calls him the son she never had. My mom wasn't the best mom growing up, but she so did the best she could and the dynamis of an only-child single mother relationship are very different. It's cool to get to see your mom grow and develop as well.
Much to my distress, my mother has a tendency to date married men (always says they're going to leave the wives, but that's never once happened), and my extremely reserved mother-in-law rides a black Harley motorcycle in black leather pants and an adorable fitted jacket. She looks pretty darn good in it too I must say!
That's similar to what my mum did She was a solicitor for like 30 years or so, but then a few years ago she decided to give it up and start writing books and now she's also working on a PhD in archaeology. She rocks.
She's awesome. i can't wait to go visit her again. Moving away from her to get married has to be one of the hardest things I have ever done. I miss her, my old house, my dogs over there, the ocean, the weed, the sushi, the farmer's markets...arghhhh. I know people hate on Southern California a lot, but if you live in a suburb of a large county as oppossed to the central city, life can be quite great and non-pretensious.
My mum has not done anything out of the ordinary. Apart from raising 3 kids, be married for 30 years, and still have her sanity.
