What do you think about them? Do you have them in your city/state? I'm pretty apathetic about them. In Toledo where I went to school there was one, but you can still smoke in certain bars...but they have to get a specific permit. It's kind of silly really. I'm not a smoker and I just choose to sit in "non-smoking" sections...and if a bar has a bad circulation system I choose not to go there...it's not a big deal.
Fuck smoking bans, fuck them in the balls. They ruined the Waffle House experience for me forever. Hmm... some people are assholes about the way they smoke... if smokers themselves were more considerate of non-smokers, then smoking bans wouldn't have been as necessary. I do not blow my smoke in anyone's face... so I'm an innocent victim... I tell you... innocent!
I can understand WHY there are smoking bans, but I don't think it's fair...and I'm not even a smoker.
they just started it in ohio a couple weeks ago. they dont have a way to enforce it yet, so alot of places still let you smoke
yea, boston has smoking bans...i think they whole state does too, not sure...but i hate them. i think it should be up to the owner of the business whether or not to have a smoking ban.
Like I said, though, all they have to do is apply for a certain permit...so the smoking ban is kinda stupid.
In Arkansas an establishment has to become a private club and charge for membership in order to bipass the smoking ban (or to serve liquor in dry counties). This whole membership thing is purely symbolic... most places only charge people 5$ a year to be a member, but it costs the establishment a lot of money to get the private club permit... so alot of places just cannot afford it. Now thew lower class smoking population cannot enjoy a cigg inside thier favourite establishments... terrible.
its more complicated than that. they have to be a private club. you cant have a payroll system and everyone that works there has to be family members.
Maybe it's different everywhere? Because there's a Big Boy in Toledo that has a smoking section, even though there is a smoking ban.
yeah, theres a bunch of places down here in dayton that still lets you smoke, simply cuz theres no way to enforce it... yet. give it a couple months and therell be some 800 number or something set up and all the places will be non smoking.
y'know, at one point I could care less about smoking bans, but now that it exists in Toronto area, I kind of prefer it this way.
i think mine may be one of the lives that have been saved by them. i'm not for telling anyone they can't have or do anything to themselves, but second hand tobacco smoke really does KILL people. honest. =^^= .../\...
the smoking ban was the best thing that ever happened to this city...... I was put in place about 3-4 years ago........ we had alot of complainers, and they tried a petition, but it never worked.... and no one really bitches about it anymore..... people realize they either have to quit or just smoke outside.
it surprises me that non smokers find a ban bullshit....... it actually makes bars and restaurants more enjoyable. Ill tell you that. even the smokers here actually say the same thing. the smoking ban was the best thing to ever happen. now alot of restaurants/bars put up porch areas so that smokers can sit and eat and smoke if they like... actually, alot of people do like to hang outside and party and whatnot....
Some people might actually enjoy the smell of a good cigg! 99% of the ciggs I smoke are outside as it is... smoking makes me go outside even when I least feel like it, refreshes me.
For whatever it is worth, Portland, Oregon has just institued smoking bans in outside areas (all parks and the main square downtown), as well as the inside bans already in effect.
