Yay or nay? The only reason I'm considering it is because when I smoke I always get super sleepy, and lately I haven't been able to sleep because of a wicked soar throat, but it might make it worse. I have the weirdest case of mono, cuz I'm not tired like everyone says I should be, just this damn soar throat which will hasn't gone away in 5 days.... opinions?

well, mono can last for months. Have you gone to the doctor? Do any of your friends have it? Pot can't cause mono, but if you're smoking with people who have it, they can pass the germs on the bowl/ blunt/ whatever it may be.

the symptoms you describe don't sound like just mono. It sounds like smoking pot. Where is your weed comign from? Does the grower spray chemicals and vitamins without flushing them out before harvested?

And pot burns you out so that would be the tiredness. mono will make it hard to stay awake at all.

I forgot to say that the reason I ask about chemicals is because that is the #1 cause of sore throat from smoking herb

I went to the doc yesterday, and apparently I have mono. The only symptoms I have tho is a soar throat and minor ear ache. I was prescribed an antibiotic, steroids, and an antitussive. I just want to know if it's a good idea to smoke while I have mono and taking these meds.

oh! ok that explain a little more.

well, I suppose you can smoke but use it moderately. Pot isn't going to interfere with your meds, but it might slow the healing process in your throat. Coughing will tear the tissue and make it hard to heal properly.

    don't smoke with others though!!

man in 8th grade i caught mono followed by pink eye and had to stay out of school for 3 months. I had the same kinda mono you did i guess cuz my friend got it too cuz he split a beer with me befor ei knew i had it, and we were home at his hosue jsut chillin wide awake all day the whole time we were sick. we smoked weed a couple times during that period and it really didnt have an adverse affect, just be sure not to split it with anyone who isnt already sick.

i had mono and i think it may have been the same case as yours. your soar or strep throat will go away in a week, but for now stick to one joint a day then when the sore throat leaves smoke as much as you want thats what i did. JUST DONT DRINK ALCOHOL i made that mistake and my mono turned into a serious pnemonia which im getting over now so sticj to your herb no other drugs or alcohol and youl be fine. go for another blood test every month to check if you still have it.

oh ya and go back to your doctor and get a special prescribed mouth wash and gargle it for 30 seconds 4 times a day thats what i got to help wiyh the strep throat i got.....i was prescribed an antibiotic also, pennicilin, but when they found out i had mono and not just bad strep throat they took me off the pills and told me that mono has to heal on its own...id check back with your doctor because from my experience you shouldnt be on meds for this particular virus

it's a virus. aka the "kissing disease," cuz it spreads mainly through spit. My symptoms resembled that of strep throat (white spots in the back of my throat, a sore throat, minor ear ache). It's supposed to make you hella tired.

Smoking worked wonders for me. I slept soundly for 8 hours... 4 more hours than usual. I'm finally going back to school today, after a 2 day hiatus...not bad for having mono...
The doc tested me for strep, mono, and the flu... supposedly it's spreading through my college like wild fire. She only put me on meds for a week, to help get rid of all this congestin and pain.

What is the real name for 'mono'? That term is not used in Australia.

    Gulandula fever? (sp)

    "mono" is short for mononucleosis.
...wait... so you can reinfect yourself? Should I toss out my toothbrush too?
This disease is getting very complicated...damn new year's kiss.

you can only reinfect yourself by not taking care of yourself. the doctor made a mistake when she told me that if i was feeling completely fine i could drink again.

I was also going through some emotional problems at the time so i started binging. then my birthday came i drank for 12 hours straight and it turns out my system wasnt fully healed because i ended up with pnemonia which im still taking meds to get rid of now.

you're on antibiotics, right? If you are and you throw everything out that your mouth touches (toothbrush, wash the pillow cases, your bowls, ect.) that should take care of it.

It is very unlikely you can reinfect yourself, but I would do it to make sure.

ha, my friend had mono when we were selling weed so we had a lot of extra to smoke. since he had it, when the two of us smoked, we would each roll our own joint and just walk around campus and smoke 'em. we'd do that like six times a day.

i usually smoke when i'm sick because i've noticed that it usually takes my mind off of being sick more than it contributes to my sickness. however, the real reason is probably just because i'm a pothead making excuses.
