Had em pulled yesterday; was planning to abstain for at least a week (or however long it takes to heal) but I recently stumbled across this article:

    http://www.americasdentalbookstore.c...Prevention.htm

So anyway, now that I've found information both for and against my goal I've decided to turn to the wonderful world of hipforums and see if anyone here has any personal experience with this?

Yeah I've heard that too, but I've also heard that it (the no smoking)is just a reference to cigarette smoking. Nicotine is a vaso-constrictor (reduces bloodflow) and so it can interrupt with the healing process if not as much blood can reach the sockets.

However, I'm not sure if the same holds true for weed or not >_<

well they tell you not to use straws, too.
I think it's more of a suction thing...

if you toke, be really careful?

Do not smoke joints pipes bongs or anything like that.

Make a pale, cut the bottome off a bottle then put the half bottle in a cup, then fill the cup up with water. make a bowlpiece for the half bottle. then light the weed thats in the bowlpiece and raise the bottle. Then to take your toke simpoly lower the half bottle back in the water and the smoke will shoot into your mouth, you can still inhale and there will be no suction needed.

^good advice. also if you can stand to do so, you can breathe through your nose just fine. taking shotguns off a blunt this way will work well, but i find it irritating.

best bet is some food :D

Do not smoke. Sorry. It can cause infections. You only need to for about 3 days.

I would think the smoke would really irritate it. Either way if it were me I would just smoke slowly

Inhaling the smoke is probably not gonna be the best feeling in the world, but I'm pretty sure weed actually increases bloodflow so that might be a plus.

i have answered this so many times in the past, and my answer never changes, and i am sick of re typing the same answer to a question that never changes.
suction is bad, find a way around that.

its Thursday now, i got a wisdom tooth pulled on Monday. My tooth started aching today, the codeine they gave me is crap, doesn't work. So, i figured what the hell, i smoke bud for fibromyalgia anyway. I loaded up my pipe, has a big ol' smoke barrel in it, took a tiny puff, let the barrel fill up, draw my mouth back about 1/2 inch and inhaled deeply.

The smoke did not hurt the wound, no stinging and surprisingly, i feel better. That doesn't mean i'm not screwing up my gums or causing a problem, but there isn't any pain from the smoke itself. Surprisingly, there isn't any more aching at all, just a weird pressure, like when something hurts and you squeeze it cuz the counter pressure feels so much better. Its like the weed is giving my counter pressure. Though the area feels "tight", it doesn't ache anymore.

Maybe i'll pop the clot and get dry socket writhing in agonizing pain...but i doubt it.

My understanding is that the pressure change can pull the clot out, causing "dry socket" which is supposed to be a very, very painful thing.

When I got all 4 extracted last summer, I waited maybe 2 days to blaze. I wouldn't recommend smoking up, but if you decide to, be safe about it.

I used a vape(which should be fine, just don't suck too hard), and hit the gravity bong which we used a 4L milk jug for this, so there was not too much pressure going through my mouth. Just make sure when you hit the gravity bong that you inhale and exhale speedily and smoothly so smoke doesn't linger in your mouth...

Anyways, the pain will be gone very shortly. Good luck and Hang in there man.
