I dont see a lot of posts about sinicuichi, or Sun Opener, despite its claimed potency. I recently ordered an oz of dried sinicuichi leaves, and left half of them in warm water in the sun for three days (traditional method). I eventually threw this out, as I had let it sit for too long, and I wasnt confident that it hadnt turned (had a putrid smell). Nevertheless, I remained curious about its effects. So, this morning after smoking a bowl, I decided to roll two king size cigarettes (about 1.5 gs each) of sinicuichi and smoke them in my backyard. I waited a few hours after smoking the pots, so I would be able to distinguish the different feelings. I lit the first cigarette, and the smoke was actually pretty tolerable, not as good as weed, but more aromatic than tobacco, with a slight bitterness. I finished it with no real noticeable effects, and waited a few minutes to light the next one. After about three puffs from the second cigarette, I noticed effects setting in, a coolness across my body, and a similar but distinctive sedation to cannabis. I smoked the rest of that one, feeling the effects slowly set in. Colors took on a more clear appearance, but inside everything seemed slightly darker. It was very cool. I decided to spend the next few hours outside, as the effects seemed to warrant bright light and a proximity to living things. I proceeded to draw and read for several hours, not experiencing the lack of attention span cannabis normally affords me (at this point I still felt the effects of the bowl Id smoked like 4 1/2 hours ago.) At some point I decided to smoke another sinigarette, and the effects increased subtly, but in proportion to previous amounts (as compared to a lot of psychedelics, where additional doses taken well after the initial effects set in have little to no added effect.) I continued to read Tihkal until I got hungry, at which point I ate. I realized that there was no desire to eat beyond filling my stomach, which is one of my least favorite side effects of cannabis. I spent the next hour sitting around my house, not doing anything in particular, but not feeling lethargic or drowsy like after the peak of a cannabis high fades away. All in all the most pot-like ethnobotanical Ive tried, with the exception of kratom. The pot I smoked prior to the sinicuichi definitely had an impact on the nature of the high ( I always try not to use that word with psychedelics, but I cant think of another) and yet the sini had equal strength, and was clearly present. the effects differ in hard to define ways, but Ill try. Like I said, a significant effect on perception of light, especially in live plants. Being inside seemed more depressing than usual, I had the strong desire to spend the entire duration outdoors. A general coolness overall, which may have to do with acetylcholine inhibition? I have very little experience with drugs that target this neurotransmitter, except nicotine, which this was nothing like. I got the feeling there was more to the experience in significantly higher doses, I was just over threshold. mild deleriousness was experienced, yet focusing was more than easy. Most significantly, I have a strong desire to try it again, in higher amounts, which is often not felt with other ethnobotanicals. Damn this wasnt supposed to be this long, but I kept remembering things Id forgotten. The point of this post is to say that as far as the debate over whether sinicuichi is a relevant plant, I must cast my vote resoundingly yes. give it a try next time you order ethnobotanicals, an oz was like 5 bucks, and its definitely an excellent potentiator of cannabis, if nothing more.
i don't know about traditional methodology except that it's taken as an infusion. as for the smell, aroma and taste are closely linked, and i've read in an anecdotal report that it "tastes like the water from an old vase of flowers smells," which is indeed quite putrid. this is, of course, paraphrasing, but the comparison to vase water stuck with me since i know well the nauseating aroma of the water which has too long held an assortment of flowers all in all, this is interesting. i'd be interested in hearing about smoking extract
Most sources said ten grams, left in the sun for between 24 hours and three days. the water smelled like it had started to get fermented, and there was that white cloudy shit that forms whenever you leave something in a jar for too long, so I decided not to drink it (It had also been sitting closer to a week). Smoking extracts will be my next experiment, a few hits should be easier than smoking three joints worth.
Nice report. This is one thing I never hear anything about but have come across a few times. I have to disagree with you about kratom being "pot-like" though. I don't think they're anything alike.
there are similarities, though. More than any other drug Ive tried. they both have this implacable versatility, like they can be used for whatever you need them to do. Obviously Kratom is much more opiate-like, and cannabis is more psychedelic, but I think there is some distinct overlapping effects. For me at least, everyone's different.
How was the body load on it? I tried sinicuichi the traditional way (10g left sitting in the sun all day), and while the experience was mild and pleasant, the muscle soreness felt the next few days was surprisingly intense. For the rest of that night after it wore off into the next day, I felt like I had overexerted all the muscles in my body. It's made me wary of redosing at higher levels.
It was similar to cannabis, hard to explain the difference. I didnt get sore, but I think smoking it has much less effect, so I want ot try the oral method. Also, I thin I should say that I tried smoking the same amount a few days later, and the effects were diminished until I smoked some weed, so there is definitely some synergy there.
I made a gram of 15X extract before. It's easy with the sun opener. Just take whatever amount you want to extract place in a pot of boiling water(not boiling per say I just forget the word) not too hot to destroy but perfect you know what I mean. Boil and squeeze the herbs until no more green/brown juice is coming out and the sift them out. Continue boling until you have nothing. Scrape the extract from your pan once it cools. Its the same process as making salvia extract.
