I just spent 10 minutes able to not move, but hearing voices and sounds eminating all around me. Freaked me out. I made myself wake up with 4 hours left to get up for work. Shouldn't have eaten that candy before bed.

I've never experienced it that I know of and by the looks of my sheets when I do wake up, well that also suggests I don't deal with it unconsciously. You need shin guards and shoulder pads and also maybe a helmet if you intend to sleep next to me. :D

Happened to me maybe once as a kid. I had awoken from a very bad nightmare and was so glad to be awake. I was planning on shooting out of bed so there wouldn't even be even the slightest chance of revisiting that hellish dream for the night. Unfortunately, to my annoyance, I found myself not being able to move, and, to my great dismay, I was falling back to sleep!

Ha! Timely seeing this. I've had this going on for about 25 years and whilst it's been rare in recent years, this morning I found myself completely immobilised as something unpleasant jumped around my bed. Not a great way to start the day :(

Sufferers of sleep paralysis often report feeling a certain pressure near their chest, sometimes an "entity".

Actualy, it wasn't until I saw a documentary about it that I discovered it was a 'thing' with a name. I'd kept it to myself prior to that. And yup, I've seen every weird thing you can think of when it happens. They generally don't freak me out anymore but sometimes I get nailed by it.

I have had sleep paralysis before...and thank goodness never again after the time...an appirition was coming towards me, while I slept alone....and could not move...I fought with all of my might and finally sat up and screamed..."WHAT DO YOU WANT?!"
and then she finally went away...
That house was haunted by all accounts of people who lived there or visited there. I was in the attic apartment...
After that, I slept with the lights on and got out of there as quickly as possible.

I had it almost every night for a year when I was renting a room from a friend of mine. My friend told me before I moved in he thought the room was haunted.

I dont really believe in ghosts but it was kinda strange it only happened when I lived there.
I always felt the entity others in this thread have described, and it felt like I was trapped between the waking and dreaming world for hours but I gues each episode probably only lasted a few minutes

have had it for a long time since I was 11. used to think that I was possessed. mine was really severe as I could have up to 15 episodes in the row per night. was afraid to sleep! I read that almost every human being experiences sleep paralysis at least once. could be a consequence/reflection of stress or problems. it stopped maybe 2 years ago (I'm 25,5 now) and I was sleeping well enough. it happened a few weeks back again and it freaked me out!

I've had it on and off,and in different locations, and a variety of experiences.I really think it is spooky, and tied in with the mind/body/spirit dimension and how that reacts with the etheric realm, and any disturbances in one's local cosmos.

Yeah, I've had this happen to me a few times. It's pretty unpleasant.

I just learned the term for it 3 or so years ago.

If any of you are interested in these sorts of things there's a great radio show that airs nation-wide. I don't think I'm allowed to name the show. -- It's on late though towards the higher end of one's radio dial.-- This was the show I learned this term for.

  15. I get it occasionally. Laughing helps, I think, but for some reason it does make me laugh when it happens. It's like a mixture of terrifying and tremendously exciting.
