I had one of those moments tonight where you suddenly realize you're getting older. I started to use a slang expression then realized no one else really says it anymore. This led to the realization that I haven't really picked up any new slang in a few years. What are the kids even saying these days??
I've picked up on putting "bro" before words and "ski" after them as in... Whatup Broham? Move outa the way I gotta take a shitski.
that I was down for doing something..."I'm down for that," but it sounded silly and it made me feel a bit like my mom when she walks around talking about shit being groovy. Do people still say that? Everyone used to say it when I was in my early twenties and bar hopping all the time....all the little hipsters at the bar would be like "yo, that's what's up, I'm down for that."
I remember when my sister took me to my first festival and I was driving her nuts asking what all the slang meant. Turns out 90% of it was for drugs, but it was all new to me. I don't bust it out anymore unless I just want to confuse someone for the hell of it.
I still say that a lot. And I hear it a lot, I think that's kind of been adopted into our dialect. But I've always been irked when people say 'that's whats up'.. ugh. Edit: I'm not sure what the teenyboppers are saying these days, but it's probably a bunch of lame shit. Just say what you feel like saying. You're not that old so I'll hold the jokes :sunny:
So before picking this up, you would have said: Whatup ham? I think that would be cooler anyway. I used to know someone my parents age who would call things "stylin". His kids hated it. I picked it up. I'm like a slang time machine.
Maybe, that "dip" slang word is 15 years old since the person I hear saying it is 30... hmmm...she seems young to me. Okay then how about Fire (adj) Baby, you look fire in that outfit. = really hot
I was confused as fuck when I went to my first festival with all the drug slang. And the people that walk around with their pointer finger in the air. I know that is drug related but I'm still not quite sure what it means Okay good, I don't feel like such a dork then lol. Yeah, I used to know this guy who said "that's what's up" all the damn time and you could tell he didn't really pay any attention to what most people said. He just had his standard reply waiting in the wings. I do use the word cray a lot...so I guess I did pick up one slang word recently. you guys are cray cray
me too. the first time I read On the Road I pretty much thought I was part of the beat generation. I mean, I was really diggin it.
Is she hot? And that's one I don't get, probably because it's more recent like 'that's whats up'. That used to a term for good reefer. Now apparently a grilled cheese can be fire. I remember in the 90s we said slammin. Hot chicks walks by, you look at your boys and say sallamminnnn' all slow. I think I'm gonna bring that one back.
That probably means they have molly, not sure. But I've always taken it by licking your finger and dipping it in the bag. And cray is a good one too. Mufucka, you cray! :2thumbsup:
i beez in the trap all day err day dun have time to keep up with the latest groovy thangs peeps be sayin these days.
